About

I can provide you with a warm, supportive, safe space which can allow you to explore any difficult issues you may be experiencing in your life.
This could be emotional turmoil due to a life situation, or perhaps a traumatic event that has happened to you, causing feelings of overwhelm. I will always listen and endeavour to understand you, free from any judgement. Allowing you to share your story at your own pace.

I have an integrative approach which means I draw upon different modalities of counselling through my experience and training. This will help me meet your needs in the best way I can whilst working with you.

About me.
My own background has lead me into the world of counselling, helping others who are experiencing emotional distress or some kind of internal or external crisis. This coupled with my integrative training means I have experience working with a wide range of emotional difficulties, including: substance misuse, addiction, early childhood trauma, domestic violence, PTSD, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, loss and bereavement, and relationship problems.

I hope to offer you a compassionate and safe environment allowing you explore painful feelings that could be causing you symptoms of distress. This exploration, over time, can provide some relief from these symptoms. As we explore this together, my hope is that you will also gain an insight into understanding yourself better; enabling you to perhaps make changes or choose a path that feels intuitively right for you.

My personal ethos is that we all know what feels right for us and what is innately best for us, no one else is an expert in our lives. Finding ways to trust our instincts helps us gain self-awareness, which enables us to build our own inner-resources and strengths. This can free us from emotional burden and feel empowering. I work by aiding this process through our sessions together.

As a qualified counsellor I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). This is an organisation that provides a standard and code of ethics for counsellors to adhere to. I practise within this code of ethics.

I work with adults only, over the age of 18.

I am currently working with Clients Face to Face or Online via a secure platform.
Face to Face sessions are offered in Stroud, Gloucestershire.

Training, qualifications and experience.
I have a foundation degree in therapeutic counselling and trained through Gloucestershire college. Gloucestershire college is recognised for providing an extensive and thorough integrative counselling training programme. During my training and post qualification I have worked for 2 years for an organisation that supports clients with substance misuse. I incorporate both psychodynamic and person centred models into my work, alongside trauma informed modalities.

I have also trained post qualification on an extensive online and telephone counselling course, which incorporates important considerations whilst working online; ensuring safe and ethical practice.
Post qualification I have also completed a diploma in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. DBT is an evidence based psychotherapy that can help treat personality disorders and interpersonal conflicts.

I work using a variety of modalities which allows flexibility when considering a clients personal needs. Please get in touch if you would like to know more.

Fees.
I provide weekly 50 minute appointments at £50. We would have an initial assessment session to begin with, this session will allow you to get a feel for me and decide whether you’d like to work with me. I also have a limited capacity to offer a reduction of fees to students and those on a low income.
