Q&As

There are so many parts to my job that I love. I certainly enjoy the positive difference I can make to a students learning journey, whether it be on a large scale or small.

I wanted to start my own educational service after 10 years of experience as teacher. I believed I could provide one to one educational support to empowers students to reach their full potential. I enjoy working together with parents and students on work my students need guidance with and helping them to improve in a particular area that they are struggling in.

I specialise in online tutoring. I have had years of experience tutoring online and have exceptional online resources and technical equipment.

Phonics lessons will follow the Read Write Inc programme. RWI has been validated as a complete systematic synthetic phonics teaching programme. This therefore means that RWI phonics meets all of the Department for Education criteria's for an effective phonics programme.

Through this programme, children experience progress right from the very beginning. Children learn the alphabet by learning the 40+ sounds. They blend the sounds into words along with graphemes. Their fluency increases as they read books according to their phonics level and the ‘tricky’ words that they learn. They are helped to read with a storyteller’s voice.

Along with this, prompts are given to encourage children to think out loud and have discussions.

The Early Years foundation framework in the UK states, “The number and quality conversations children have with adults and peers throughout the day in a language-rich environment is crucial.”

It is important to comment on children’s interests in order to stimulate their conversation.

By echoing back what they say and using new vocabulary with the use of correct grammar, we are then able to build on children’s language effectively. This is what I do with my students in all lessons. When choosing lessons that focus primarily on speaking, we are giving children opportunities to progress immensely.

Along with conversations, story-telling and role play are significant for children of a young age to share their ideas. This will always be supported and modeled by myself.

Questioning is a way that encourages children to elaborate and to become comfortable using a rich range of vocabulary and language structures.

These lessons focus equally on phonics, reading and speaking for Early years. Both speaking and phonics go hand in hand.

If your child needs attention in both areas, these lessons will help them to progress. The lessons are structured to focus on the RWI phonics programme with in depth discussions regarding the letters or words taught by including new vocabulary and topics related to the new sounds that are introduced.

All the focus areas in phonics and verbal communication will be taught together to help children excel.

The Department for Education UK states. "Over the last two decades, there has been a deepening recognition of the fundamental importance of improving reading standards on a child’s future academic achievement, wellbeing and success in life. The reading of Standard English, alongside proficient language development, is the key to unlocking the rest of the academic curriculum. Pupils who struggle to read struggle in all subjects and the wonders of a knowledge-rich curriculum passes them by unread. Fluency of reading is also a key indicator for future success in further education, higher education and employment."

If your child needs help in reading and speaking practice, these lessons will enrich their communication skills, reading and speaking fluency.

Writing depends on the relationship between phonics, word structure and spelling.

Children learn to communicate their ideas effectively for a reader whilst increasing their vocabulary. Grammatical terms in English are integrated in teaching. When writing, children’s knowledge of grammar is widened.

Students will be taught to compose a sentence orally before writing it, sequencing sentences to form short narratives and re-read what they have written to check that it makes sense. Along with this students will be encouraged to discuss what they have written with their teacher. They will begin to punctuate sentences and use grammatical terminology taught for their year group and level.

Reading, writing and grammar are all essential skills of language.

These skills “will teach pupils to speak and write fluently so that they can communicate their ideas and emotions to others, and through their reading and listening, others can communicate with them.”

If your child needs to strengthen all areas of their England language, combination lessons tackle all skills taught in:

reading & verbal communication lessons along with skills taught in writing & Grammar lessons.
