Q&As

When deciding a career path I knew that one thing I most wanted to do was to help improve peoples quality of life, that might means helping people overcome injury/surgery or just having continued maintenance. Having the ability to see people progress and become more confident is one of the best things.

I've always wanted to be independent and loved the thought of 'being my own boss!'. I feel like it gives me more freedom to expand my knowledge in more areas and not always specify on one, for example I love working with athletes helping them over come injury or being stronger but then I also like to work with the elderly and see how much they progress and get some independence back.

Services

Soft tissue therapy combines various remedial and advanced manual techniques to help with chronic tightness, dysfunctional postural tendencies (a position that puts your spine and other joints out of their normal balanced alignment) and injuries to the musculoskeletal system, namely, muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective/fascial tissues.

Pregnancy massage is similar to a classic massage but has been tailored to accommodate for a women’s size and shape, with the addition of pillows and supports as well as a gentler pressure whilst massaging. The combination of relaxation and stimulating messages to the receptor help a woman's body to work more effectively during pregnancy.

Sports massage focuses more on treating specific minor and chronic injuries. By utilising a wide range of techniques, such as deep tissue massage and active/passive stretching, the muscle fibres can be loosened and realigned. Although a sports massage will greatly benefit an athlete, this technique can be used for anyone.

Strapping and taping is used to secure or stabilise an injury or aggravated joint. The tape will allow the joint to move freely in directions that do not cause pain but will restrict the movement that causes pain. The tape normally only stays on for one day but can stay on for up to 48 hours - if you get symptoms such as itching, redness or numbness then the tape should be removed immediately! Taping and strapping is not for permanent use to an injury - it is only a to help during recovery.

Myofascial cupping is an alternative therapy which dates back to earlier Egyptian, Chinese and Middle Eastern times that has been modified to use plastic cups targeting the Musculoskeletal System. Rather than applying pressure in a downward motion during a massage, the vacuum draws the soft tissue gently upwards, this provides a tensile force to the soft tissue. This can either be left in the same area for a period of time or moved along the tissue. It helps with pain, inflammation and draws out the toxins that are in the body.
