My name is Lois and I own Mountain Academy. Mountain Academy is set in a unique countryside location on Caerphilly Mountain. I provide one to one and small group sessions for children that need support. I am patient, build great relationships with my pupils and always strive for children to gain a deep understanding to further their learning.

What do you love most about your job?
I adore teaching children and seeing those 'light bulb' moments. Building relationships with my pupils is so important, and I really look forward to each and every session. Lastly - the environment, teaching and learning surrounded by countryside and green space is just wonderful.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I wanted to combine my business degree and entrepreneurial mindset with my passion for education and teaching. I left my teaching position to pursue having my own business, my own learning environment.

Clients should choose me because I am a kind, patient and experienced teacher. I can provide bespoke sessions to support their child, and will help them nurture their abilities to progress.

Currently I only work from my classroom, this is because as I am based on Caerphilly Mountain, a steady wifi connection for online teaching can be unpredictable.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
This business was launched post covid, therefore no changes need to be made as per government guidelines.
One to One Teaching
I will become your child's personal teacher by preparing planned lessons and activities for them to learn and progress. Mountain Academy supports children in primary and secondary school, plus essay reviews and revision technique guidance up to degree level.
I will be able to assess your child's abilities during the sessions; ensuring the support they receive meets their needs and progress is made.
Mountain Academy supports many areas of learning including:

Elective Home Education
I support home educated children on a 1-1 basis or in a small group setting if from the same family or friendship group.
