Lovely beaches, marvellous countryside for walks and beautiful views. Not overly commercialised. Great for family holidays. Plenty of interesting places to visit and pubs hotels and restaurants. My favourite beach is Sandown Bay, so much to do, the Dinosaur museum Fun golf course, Wildheart animal sanctuary, a pier, swimming and leisure centre, children's park, long promenade walk to Shanklin. Restaurants cater for most tastes. Flat seafront, and flat high street. However slope between the two roads, recommend more gentle slopes at the bottom of the high street. Plenty of car parks and street parking. Would give more stars but some derelict properties waiting to be renovated. More...

I recently visited the Isle of Wight, and it was an amazing experience. The island is known for its beautiful beaches, and I had the pleasure of exploring some of them. Shanklin Beach, with its sandy shores, was a highlight. The vintage beach huts at Ventnor Beach added a unique touch to the coastal scenery. One of the standout aspects of my trip was the convenience of taking my car over with the Wightlink ferry. It made exploring the island so much easier and allowed me to visit various picturesque spots. Driving around the Isle of Wight was a delight, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable seaside adventure. More...

Services

We worked closely with new or established businesses to assist them in becoming more profitable and sustainable.

Quite often people know exactly what business they would like to run but do not have a clear view on where to start, or the steps they need to take to get the business off the ground. I work with these clients to coach them through the process of start their business and I offer ongoing financial analysis and business consultation to support their business by acting as a remote CFO.

As your business coach I can assist in all business decision making and provide invaluable knowledge and experience to assist you in building a more profitable business

Company Formation & HMRC Registrations -
Once you have decided on which Company Structure you would like to operate through, there are certain registrations you must submit to let HMRC and Companies House know that you are trading.

You also need to think about VAT Registration, CIS, Payroll & Auto Enrolment. We are deal with all of these registrations for you.

Limited Company Registrations - If you are planning on running your business as a Limited Company you will need to be registered with Companies House as well as HMRC. Contact us to discuss the incorporation of your Limited Company.

Sole Traders do not need to register with Companies House as there is not a separate legal entity being created. For Sole Trader businesses you are required to register for Self Assessment with HMRC. Again, this is something we can take care of for you. Once we have registered you for Self-Assessment HMRC will send you a Unique Taxpayers Reference through the post which we will use to file your yearly tax returns. See our Sole trader section for more information about managing your sole trader business.

VAT
If your turnover over 12 consecutive months exceeds £85,000 you will need to become VAT registered. Once registered you will be required to add VAT to all of your customer invoices. You will also be able to claim back VAT on purchases. We can take care of the VAT registration and all ongoing VAT compliance for you.
See our VAT section for more details

CIS
Whether you are a contractor, subcontractor, or both we can deal with the HMRC registration for you. It is important that this is done prior to you working within the CIS scheme so please get in touch asap to arrange the registration and get you on your way.

PAYE
If you are an employer in the UK you will usually have to operate PAYE as part of your payroll. We can deal with the registration for you. Once we file the registration with HMRC they will send you through an Accounts Office Reference and a PAYE Reference. Usually within around 7 days. We would then use these referenced to file your monthly PAYE and RTI with HMRC

Pension
If you are employing staff who are over the age of 22, under state pension age and you are paying them over £10,000 per year, you are required to enrol them in a workplace pension scheme. We can deal with the registration for you, as well as the ongoing compliance. We would deal with all of the assessments and ensure all staff who are eligible to be enrolled are enrolled. We would then manage the monthly deductions through your PAYE scheme and ensure the correct amounts are paid to the pension pot each month.

Limited Company Accounting -

Are you planning on incorporating a Limited Company? We can assist you with all Limited Company Accounting and HMRC compliance.
We aim to keep things simple and straightforward and we pride ourselves in running limited companies finances like a well oiled machine.
Running a Limited Company involves a huge amount of responsibility for the Directors. These include marketing, customers and client liaison, staff management, payroll and managing the finances. Using a Limited Company Accountant will free you up to focus on growing your business while we worry about the ever changing compliance of HMRC and Companies House.

If you are incorporating a new Limited Company we would start by registering the business with Companies House. We would need to discuss name, registered address and share holding with you to gain all of the information that we need to get the incorporation sorted for you.

Once the new Limited Company is set up we will get you set up with Quickbooks software and teach you how to use it to manage your business bookkeeping. Alternately, if you would rather just send us an envelope with your receipts in every month we can manage the bookkeeping side of things for you.

At the end of the accounting period we will prepare your Statutory Accounts and Company Tax return and calculate the tax liability of the Limited Company.

As part of our Limited Company support package we will calculate the most tax efficient way for the directors to be paid by the company. This is usually a split between dividends and PAYE and it will depend on each individual directors financial circumstances. There isn't a one size fits all approach here so we would assess each director individually.

Please get it touch to discuss your Limited Company accounting and bookkeeping needs and look at our prices page to get an idea of how much we charge for these services.

Partnership Accounting -
Whether you are staring a new partnership or already have an established one, we can assist you with all of your tax and accounting needs.
A business that manages as a partnership shares control, responsibilities and finances between multiple people. The partners are responsible for managing the business and are 'jointly and severally' liable for any debts incurred by the business. The profits are shared between the partners based on pre-agreed percentages.

Advantages of a Partnership:
- Business partnerships are easy to establish.
- With more than one owner, it may be easier to borrow money and raise capital to invest in the business.
- The business can benefit from the knowledge and experience of all of the partners.

Disadvantages of a Partnership:
- Business partners are liable for the actions of the other partners.
- Business partners are liable for the actions of the business.
- Disagreements can make the decision making process take longer.

At Moss Accounting we can assist you with all aspects of your partnership accounting. We would deal with the initial registrations with HMRC, set you up with accounting software and show you how to keep accurate and timely records. We could even manage the bookkeeping side of things for you so you can focus on running the business.

You must register for VAT if your VAT taxable turnover goes above £85,000 in a 12 month consecutive period. At Moss Accounting we can deal with your VAT registration and ongoing compliment including quarterly VAT returns and registration for any relevant VAT schemes that may benefit your business.

Compulsory Registration -
You must register for VAT if:
You expect your VAT taxable turnover to be more than £85,000 in the next 30 days
Your VAT taxable turnover of more than £85,000 over the last 12 months

If you’ll exceed the VAT threshold in the next 30-day period
You must register if you realise that your total VAT taxable turnover is going to be more than £85,000 in the next 30-day period.
You have to register by the end of that 30-day period. Your effective date of registration is the date you realised, not the date your turnover went over the threshold.

If you exceeded the VAT threshold in the past 12 months
You must register if, by the end of any month, your total VAT taxable turnover for the last 12 months was over £85,000.
You have to register within 30 days of the end of the month when you went over the threshold. Your effective date of registration is the first day of the second month after you go over the threshold

Voluntary Registration -
You can register voluntarily if your business turnover is below £85,000. You must pay HMRC any VAT you owe from the date they register you.

HMRC offer certain VAT schemes that your business may benefit from:

Flat Rate Scheme -
Usually the amount of VAT a business pays or claims back from HMRC is the difference between the VAT charged by the business to the customers and the VAT the business pays on their own purchases.
If you choose to operate using the Flat Rate Scheme the way your pay or reclaim VAT is different.
On the flat rate scheme you pay a fixed rate to HMRC based on a % of your sales. You then keep the difference between what you charge your customers and what you pay over to HMRC. You can not reclaim the VAT on your purchases, except certain capital assets over £2000.

Please contact us to discuss whether the Flat Rate scheme might be right for you.

Annual VAT Accounting Scheme -
The Annual Accounting Scheme allows you to pay VAT on account in either 9 monthly or 3 quarterly instalments. You then complete one VAT return which is used to work out any balance owed by you to HMRC, or repayment back to you from HMRC.
You are eligible for the scheme if your estimated taxable turnover is no more than 1.35million. You can stay on the scheme as long as it remains below 1.6m.

Get in touch to discuss whether the Annual VAT scheme is right for your business.

CIS Reverse Charge -
The construction industry VAT Domestic Reverse Charge applies to supplies of construction work from 1st March 2021. Under this scheme the customer accounts for the suppliers output VAT. This measure only applies to construction supplies made by a business to another business.

For more information about the CIS reverse charge please get in touch
