Counselling

From the minute we started talking Michael was listening intently, showed he understood what I was saying by giving caring and empathic responses, my speech at the moment isn’t great (due to having a couple of brain surgeries) but he was patient and kind as I explained my situation. I have had one other session and due for another one soon. I have found Michael to be easy to confide in with what I am going through at the moment. Plus he meets my criteria’s, such as being flexible with appointments if needed, offers the rate of pay I am looking for at this particular time in my life. I have a long way to go, but with the help of Michael I know I will eventually reach there. More...

I've been seeing Michael for a while now and he's been a huge help for me. He's really easy to talk to and makes me feel comfortable opening up about my problems. He's given me great advice and tools to manage my problems and I've seen a lot of progress since I started seeing him.

Overall, I highly recommend Michael to anyone looking for a therapist who is empathetic, non-judgmental, and really knows his stuff.

Q&As

It is real privilege talking to people about their lives. I think it is fair to say I have learned more from the people I have worked with than any book.
I have also had my own therapy at different times in my life which has given me an increased awareness of how best to help people.

I worked as a counsellor/therapist in the NHS for over 25 years.
I am now semi retired but really missed the contact with clients and so work online from home. Meeting people and working with them to gain more insight into their lives is so rewarding I hope to be able to continue working for many years to come.

I think my extensive experience working in the NHS with Children, Adolescents and Adults is I know why some people choose to work with me.
I had experience of working with people with a variety of emotional and mental health difficulties, including anxiety, OCD, self harming, depression, eating disorders, childhood trama, intrusive thoughts and first episode psychosis. You can feel safe in the knowledge that your problems will be handled sensitively.

I only work online via video or voice call.
When I send people an appointment I also attach a link for a video call.
Online is still face to face and I have found it works really well for me and my clients.

Working online means this is not an issue. I was working in the NHS during the height of the pandemic and whilst I was still able to meet with some people face to face we also began to use video calls for therapy sessions. This is when I realised how positive and convenient this medium could be.

Services

If you choose to work with me we will arrange regular times to meet that suit you.
We will meet via video link or voice call, I will send you a link to connect with me at the time of our next appointment.
During our appointments we will have time to reflect on your current issues, understand more about you and how you have arrived at this point in your life. I have found working online very positive and of course it is still face to face albeit on the screen.
Finding the right therapist for you is really important so don’t be afraid to shop around.
Payment is made either through bank transfer or PayPal which ever suits you.
We can arrange a phone call to introduce myself and see if you think I may be able to help you.
