Personal Trainers

I am in my mid 50’s and very nervous to start training after a gap in exercise due to long covid. Mark is great! At the time my 13 year old son Jacob was trained by Mark at MHJ fitness a couple of times a week, and really helped my son to gain his confidence (he was overweight and very body conscious) with a good varied set of disciplines, and programmes that have made a huge difference, and Jacob is able to visit the gym on his own (now 14) and knows what to do and how!
Would highly recommend him!

Having been rejected by the Royal Navy, Mark has helped me to push my physical limits and regain confidence in my body by being being tough when required and knowledgeable in his training methods. I now feel better prepared to have another attempt at joining the Navy and have found myself enjoying my time in the gym much more after Mark's supportive and friendly approach to training. More...

I started with Mark in March and the improvements in my health and confidence have been massive. I feel so much more motivated and confident than when I began (I couldn’t even go to the gym on my own). It has been great working on our goals with Mark. We have partner sessions and he is great at switching sessions up each week to accommodate for both of our targets.
He pushes you to improve every week, always has a smile on his face and never takes anything too seriously which makes you enjoy each session, no matter how hard it may be.
You can ask him questions about exercise or even nutrition and he will always do his best to help.

Mark is absolutely brilliant... just an all round good egg. He's always early, ready and rearing to go, always organised, prepare for personalised sessions that made a genuine impact on my fitness and overall wellbeing because they were structured but never boring. Mark’s need to grasp each individual’s desired outcome from their programme and his subsequent meticulous approach to helping reach those goals sets him apart from the crowd. His physiological knowledge is incredibly impressive and that has helped me and I’m sure all of his clients immensely in understanding the best approach. I can’t recommend Mark highly enough. He was very knowledgeably really helped to motivate me into the gym which was probably the hardest part for me😅

Using realistic measurable targets and working at an intensity that gradually but surely progresses. Don't worry I sort all the numbers in the background you just have to show up and give it your all!

Commitment and education. I'll try to help with both, I always like to let my clients know why I choose certain exercises or rep ranges.

The clients of course! I used to work in a bookmakers and the environment was rather negative. I'm blessed to be doing what I love now and I'm surrounded by so many positive achieving people!

I wanted to share what I've learned to love with the world and turn my passion into my full time job! I'll never look back, it's an amazing job.

Short answer - I'm open honest and experienced

Long answer - fitness has always been a part of my life and I've tried many forms of it. Distance running, powerlifting, boxing, swimming, calisthenics, gymnastics I've done it. Of course I have my favourites and I compete in powerlifting mostly, however if a client asks me a question I like to be damn sure my answer is grounded in both experience And research and not just one or the other. If I don't have experience and knowledge I won't try and fool you, I'll recommend another PT. There's many professionals in the world and I don't know it all, I do try to know as much as I can.

Yes, I offer online personal training through my own fitness app.

The gym that I rent doubled down on cleaning even hiring an additional cleaning team to help out. Members are encouraged to stay home if feeling unwell and spray + wipes are available on the gym floor.
