Need to explain heat and air. Also need to provide mats for bathtub and not have to come back and ask for one which was too late after you’re in the tub. Had a two night stay here with my girlfriend. I couldn't believe the negative comments about this hotel ,yes the bedrooms are a little bit dated but they were clean and presentable. the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and clean. Quite except for the aircraft circling above for 10 minutes at 11:30 pm. Dinner was a let down with the Battered Cod over battered and over deep fried. My wife's dish was fine, so maybe it was just my dinner. As accommodation would readily recommend. More...

We stayed on Bank Holiday Sunday. It became apparent that there was a distinct lack of staff members. We seen 4 members of staff ‘juggling’ to try and meet the customers needs. (We were advised there had been 2 staff members who had rang in sick and no replacement could be found). Despite the challenging situation, the staff members worked so hard. (Sara being one of them). We stayed 1 night to attend a birthday party. The staff were all polite and happy to help. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was clean and tidy with a kettle and tea and coffee. The party was great the room was set out beatifully, the food amazing and great music. The breakfast the next morning was one of the best I’ve had in a hotel. We have just spent 3 brilliant days at this hotel. We were celebrating my 60th birthday! The staff are so helpful and obliging especially William and Tyler. We had a beautiful room and the meal in the restaurant was lovely and coped very well with my gluten dairy free diet. The hotel was lovely and warm in the Arctic conditions. Last night we attended the Beatles tribute night which again was excellent. William again excelled himself and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be returning. More...

Wowcher deal £99 for an overnight stay including a meal each and breakfast. We were delighted with our stay �. Exactly what we needed for our childfree break on our wedding anniversary . Although a little dated we found the hotel to be clean, quiet and had all of the basics needed. The staff were friendly,polite and attentive to our needs. Our meal of prawn cocktail/potato and leek soup, 2x slow cooked belly pork and veg and 2x spotted dick and custard was delicious! Breakfast was self service and again very tasty. Staff were very polite and helpful, some corridors for bedrooms on 2nd floor are in need of repainting and talc. We stayed on a deal for dinner, bed and breakfast, I wouldn't pay full price as its not quite worth it. Lovely polite staff ,rooms could do with updating ,different size pillows on the bed ,window could do with seeing to wouldn't stay open ended up having to use a noisy fan ,party of drunken men in restaurant getting very load using bad language , goes to bed and gets woke up by couple fighting and swearing in the corridor , plenty of thick cobwebs in dining room near the doors on the right

Room 307 - Had a lovely 3 night stay at this hotel. Very good location set in lovely grounds, just ten minutes outside York town centre. Bus stop across the road and about 6 choice of buses into town. Park and ride also available, about ten minute walk from hotel. Food very good at hotel and nothing was too much trouble with the staff always very helpful and smiling. Really enjoyed our stay. York is an amazing City, so much to see and do and didn't want to go home. Just one small point - room keys kept needing validating. Luckily we had two so one of them worked! Had a lovely stay at the hotel with my daughter, room was standard but didn't expect it to be great when we wasn't even paying, the downside was that we was next to where the workers bins were and they was very noisy, staff was great, breakfast was poor and so was the breakfast staff, maybe next time will upgrade to a better room but would stay here again.

There should be a 6* review! Defo more than 5* , Me and my parter stayed for 2 nights at the weekend there for Valentine's weekend. It was fantastic!! Rooms were lovely and very spacious, great huge comfortable beds! The staff were all amazing! Nothing was ever a problem for them. The food was delicious! My husband and I stayed last night it was our first time visiting the hotel. Our stay was excellent, the rooms were lovely, large beds, and very clean. We ate in the restaurant and the food and service was excellent. The hotel had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and we would definitely stay again and fully recommend it. Went to a party there on Saturday night, absolutely lovely food, apart from one of the waitresses growling at me when I asked for another bun, brilliant beds they are huge! I was that far away from our lass I couldn't hear her snoring, shower was very wet, and I was ecstatic that I had 2 free tooth brushes because I forgot mine, and as for the breakfast! My family said it was really good! But I was hungover because the bar staff kept serving me drinks, I wish they'd of said no! I'm still hung over on Monday! We were made to feel really welcome on arrival and enjoyed every part of our stay. The room was lovely and clean with a massive bed and jacuzzi bath!
