Masons Contractors

My front boundary onto the highway used to be a rather lovely verigated box hedge, sadly it got killed by the dreaded Box Blight, faced with the choice of either finding a replacement hedge or doing something completely different I decided to extend my Parking area to the front of my property. Following seeking Landscaping Contractors I was contacted by MASON CONTRACTORS Nathan Harris. He visited my property in Biggin Hill and we discussed what was needed. As a retired Architect I new what the correct Specification for laying brickett Paviours should be, a proper sub-base, properly levelled and vibrated followed by a suitable mebrain over which sharp sand was then spread prior to the bricketts being layed with all surrounding edges being bedded in concrete, following which the whole surface was vibrated in place to for a solid surface which would still permit rain water to be able to soak through to the ground beniegth. The work also included the construction of a brick wall to define the boundary between my property and my neighbours. They also provided a 1m high brick wall and gate to provide me with a small front Courtyard Garden.

The work to the front garden was so good that I asked if MASON CONTRACTORS would sort out some problems (trip hazards) to my back garden which had been layed out with flower beds and brickett paths and open areas. Here the difference between the work of the original Landscape Gardening Company turned out to be that the bricketts had been simply layed over a bed of sharp sand and then vibrated into place. Over the years tree roots had spread below the surface pushing up bricketts locally, I also had some loose paving slabs found an ornamental Pond which were now loose.

Nathan Harris agreed to lift the existing bricketts and clean them ready for reuse, having stripped out all surface tree roots, he then used the same specification as he had used in the front to completely relay the bavious on a proper sub-base followed by a membrain, he then bedded the cleaned bricketts in sharp sand bedded all edges in concrete. The whole was then vibrated in place. The edging to the Pond was relayed to match the surface of the bricketts.

The whole job was competed to the highest standard and on completion has a ten year guarantee covering all aspects of the work.
