We contacted Mark as we wanted to capture shots of our daughters first day at school. This might seem a bit over the top to some but I thought it'd be an amazing memory to capture not just with an iphone but professional images. <br /><br />I wasn't sure if anyone would agree to doing a photo shoot before 9am but Mark was happy to come over and the early start didn't seem to be a hassle at all for him.<span id="moreReview451232" class="hide"> <br /><br />My kids were admittedly a bit sleepy and perhaps grumpy but they soon got into the swing of things with lots of encouragement and jokes from Mark!<br /><br />Mark was kind enough to take photos of the kids in summer clothes and then their uniforms so I really got 2 shoots for the price of 1! We booked Mark to take some pictures of my 4 year old daughter and baby son. We liked what we'd seen of his work, which I felt was more natural and less cheesy than some of the other photographers we looked at! When Mark came to do the session it was obvious why - he took the time to get to know us and what we wanted, and even had our little girl and boy feeling relaxed and happy. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
The secret to taking a great photograph is being able to understand light so that you can work in any situation that you are asked. It is also really important to be able to put people at ease and make them feel comfortable. It is also important to know what the client wants and what the final use of the images will be. That way you know exactly what to deliver to them.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I will always ask what they need and expect from me. This gives me a clear picture in my head of what I need to do. It also gives me the opportunity, to be honest, and tell them if something will not be possible. I will also ask them what the final use of the images will be. It is important to know if they will be sent to the media, used on websites or promotional material etc.
What do you love most about your job?
The thing I love the most is the variety of different kinds of work that I do and also meeting lots of interesting people and being part of their life for even just a short time. I can be working at a wedding one day, the next covering a football match for a national paper and the next working at a corporate event. I would get bored if I only limited myself to one area of photography.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started off working for a national press agency. Once I had built up enough confidence and experience I branched out on my own and started getting work for some major companies. There are very few employment opportunities for a photographer, so you have to be prepared to work for yourself.
Why should our clients choose you?
They should choose me because I have a wealth of experience and have worked at a high level for a very long time. It is my sole occupation and I don't just do it at weekends. I also love what I do and I hope that comes across in my photography.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Due to the nature of my work I can not work remotely. for things like family portraits, they take place outside so we will be perfectly socially distant. After the shoot, I can post their images onto my website online and they can pay through my website or by bank transfer.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I will always wear a mask if I'm required to indoors. I have been double vaccinated and I regularly wash my hands and use hand sanitiser when It is not possible to do that. I have the facility to upload my customer's images to an online gallery for them to download or I can send them their images by Weetransfer. There is no need to meet up other than to take the pictures. I try to shoot indoors as much as possible.
Wedding Photography
Wedding photography is something I really enjoy doing. Each and every wedding is different, even if I have done lots of weddings at the same venue. It is this challenge that I get the most satisfaction from. They really allow me to get creative and come up with interesting picture ideas. I have a relaxed and friendly style that helps to put people at ease. I like to take candid shots as I know most people don't like to pose for pictures. If you just want candid shots then I have a reportage package that will be perfect for you. I also use one of the best labs in the country. So if you book me and purchase an album, you can be assured that you will get an album of the highest quality.
Corporate and Business Photography
As well as weddings I also specialise in all kinds of corporate and business photography. This wide and varied area includes events like charity balls, award ceremonies, corporate events and conferences and trade shows. As I have a background in press photography I can send you images live from an event ready for posting to your social media channels.
in this day and age, everyone needs a professional-looking headshot. This is something that I have lots of experience in doing. I have a portable studio that I can take to you or we can use the natural environment for a more editorial look.

Family Portrait Photography
I have my own unique style of family portrait photography. I only work outdoors which means you don't have to be stuck in a stuffy studio to get your portrait taken. I use local parks, woods and beaches which allows kids to run around and be themselves while I get beautifully natural and candid shots. The Scottish weather can be a challenge but I have had some of my best shots in the autumn and winter. As long as there isn't any high winds or rain, it is possible to get great results.
