What do you love most about your job?
There is nothing as rewarding as creating a cake for a client who is then thrilled when they either collect it, or it has been delivered and set up. It's wonderful to sit with a couple who are getting married, help them to plan their cake so that it is not only stunning, but is within their budget. It doesnt' matter whether someone orders a small cake that is a single tier, or a 4 tier wedding cake, the attention to detail is the same. The rewards of someone saying 'wow' is worth all of the hours of work and additional detail that sets my cakes apart. Not only do I do this to earn a living, I do it out of a love of creating something beautiful
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have always been artistic and have a love of all things craft. My favourite medium is all things cake, from sitting or talking to a client and coming up with a design that is personal to them gives me so much reward. When I sit with clients, or speak to them on the phone and spend time talking to then, a picture of a cake pops into my mind and between myself and my clients, we come up with something that is not only personal to them, but rewarding to myself.
Why should our clients choose you?
I am passionate about what I do and am always slightly nervous that I have interprited my clients expectation and produced their perfect cake. This is not only my business, but the day that I stop being slightly nervous that I have met and exceeded my clients expectation I should no longer make and decorate cakes. I made a model of an MG/TA 1936 motor car for the top of a clients 80th birthday cake and the family went out to buy a presentation case to put the model of the car in - there is no greater reward than that
