I have been a carpenter for over 20 years working for myself and have become very knowledgeable in this trade from kitchen fitting to loft conversions, and everything else in between. Since settling down and starting a family with my partner, I decided I wanted to establish myself more and start a company in a more specific area in the trade, and that is when I decided on Loft Conversions.

Toms team were professional and highly accommodating with my needs. I was very happy with my choice of contractor. I can be very fussy and Living Lofts bent over backwards to make sure they delivered the quality of work.
I'm extremely happy with the final product! These are defiantly the guys to get!
Thanks again Living Lofts

How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
1. Any home in a conservation area will require planning, therefore, subject to rejection. Generally costing the customer more in fees whether accepted of rejected.
2. Head Height - you need a minimum of 2 metre head height from from the new floor structure to the underside of the new roof. So if you don't have at least 2.2m from your existing ceiling joists to your existing ridge beam then it is unlikely you'll be able to have a loft conversion
3. Three-storey loft conversions will require a fire escape or sprinkler system, which will incur extra cost.
4. Space for solid staircase fitting, which will allow for fire regulations to be applied. Also if you don't have a solid stair structure you will not be able to sell the house on with an additional room.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
1. Visit to the property to check for all suitable requirements for a loft conversion.
2. Agreement and deposit to be taken.
3. Architectural and structural engineering drawings.
4. Works begin, taking between 8-12 weeks (size and weather dependant).
What do you love most about your job?
Mainly the transformation - seeing the work begin from a dark, dusty and useless space to a beautiful bedroom/ensuite or a smart office space, or even a cosy snug space to hide away in.
Having a very happy customer.
What inspired you to start your own business?
To work for myself and provide for my young family, and create work I can be genuinely proud of.

I believe our clients will gain a much more personal, professional service and genuine care and consideration in the work we provide. We are very confident in being able to beat most prices out there.
