What’s your interior design process?
First step is meeting the client to discuss the brief and the client's needs.
Secondly we would carry out a site inspection (if possible). Alternatively review drawings and surrounding areas.
Next step is to present a mood board presentation of initial ideas and themes to ensure our visions are intertwined.
At this stage we agree an initial fee and budget then move to the design development and technical phase in preparation for the tender process.
Procurement of soft furnishings, dressing and delivery are the final stages.
Which interior design styles can you cater for?
We cater for all styles and budgets. We pride ourselves on our ability to integrate contrasting styles. We believe that this is the most challenging form of design but are only too willing to take on any challenge.
What do you love most about your job?
Creating spaces that are not only functional but evoke the desired emotional response.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After initially studying art and fashion, I gravitated into my family run construction business and quickly realised that property is where my passion lied. I then spent several years expanding my knowledge in property development, investment and finance businesses to gain a holistic understanding of all aspects of the property matrix. To complete the circle I went back to my creative roots and studied interior design at KLC School of Design in world famous Chelsea Design Centre. After graduation and working for some of the top design studios in the UK, I realised that in order to maintain the integrity of the vision created by the client and the designer, the interior design needs to be personal and to have continuous oversight on every minute detail of the design. To that end, I took the gargantuan leap of founding Lauren Marie Designs. A company whose ethos was to respect and deliver the individuality of design.

Lauren, the founder of Altra Living, a sustainable online homeware company, offers a piece of sustainable luxury for the retail market.
As a qualified interior designer, Lauren has worked in many aspects of the property industry including design, construction and financing. This exposure provided a launch pad for a company that addresses a growing problem in the construction, furniture and fashion industries: the mass wastage of reusable items.
Altra’s mission is to salvage and up-cycle items from the construction, fashion and furniture industries. This is not recycling as we know it, but up-cycling to provide beautiful statement pieces with a second life.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We provide online zoom meetings where possible. When we're on site we follow the government guidelines to ensure optimum health and safety for all parties.
