I have taught English for nearly 30 years. This has been in both Secondary and FE settings. I have a BA in English and a MA in Literature, as well as a Level 5 Subject Specialism in Teaching English. I have also recently applied to complete a PhD in Education.
I have extensively taught Functional Skills in Maths and English; from pre-entry level to Level 2.I have also previously worked for Edexcel; writing exam questions for Functional Skills exam papers.
I currently work as an English Lecturer at a large FE College and I also work for AQA as a GCSE English Language Examiner.
I consider myself to a very calm, caring individual. I am passionate about the subject. With many years of experience I have a huge understanding for reasons why learners might need support. I am a partially qualified counsellor and I offer sessions to help with exam stress, mindfulness and relaxation techniques.

I have previously been a judge for BBC Radio 2's 500 words writing competition.
