I am a fully-trained primary teacher based in Liverpool. I have over twenty-one years' experience in both the public and the private sectors. My strengths lie in motivating my pupils to learn and encouraging them with lots of positivity. This approach has great results and I have had excellent pass rates in the examinations and assessments of each age-rage and year group I have taught.
I have taught pupils working for SATs, phonic assessments and school-entry exams.
I have a high-degree of expertise in teaching mathematics using, in particular, the Singapore model and methodology. This involves problem-solving, a degree of independence of strategising employing manipulatives and methods shared and with an initial greater degree of scaffolding and support and collaboration. The results from using and applying this pedagogy have been remarkable and not only are the pass-rates massively increasing in England now, children are excited to learn and say they now love maths. Win, win!
I love teaching reading as it open up a whole-new world for children. I also have great success rates here too. For the past seven years I have taught year two and after inheriting a class of former year ones who mainly couldn't read accurately, I have closed the gaps and produced avid readers who then become enthusiastic writers. And who doesn't love seeing a child tongue between teeth writing thoughtfully and producing page after page of intelligent, skilled writing?
I love teaching science too. I enjoy the practical investigations and experiments, the utilising of equipment and the pupils reporting on predictions they made. I love the awe and wonder and excitement of discovery.
I also love teaching art and sports and I also enjoy participating too as I am a keen artist and have been a dancer since age 4. I also coach tennis and teach dance classes.
I have recently took early retirement from the classroom but am very eager to keep teaching and tutoring is a good way to do this.
I can travel for face-to-face tutoring and am trained in online tutoring too.
I hope you can tell that I love teaching. My lessons are well-planned, tailored for the individual and any specific need as I have taught pupils with varying educational needs and abilities. My lessons are also enjoyable, engaging and fun. I do love to hear children laughing and excited to learn. Let's talk.

Karen was just the tutor we were looking for.
My 9 year old had quite a few weeks of tutoring as we were waiting on a school placement.
Karen taught Maths, English and also some History and science. My daughter really enjoyed her lessons and Karen was able to keep her focused throughout.
I would definitely recommend her and will be using her again. More...
