Juniper Dogs provide Positive Dog Training for Owners and their Dogs. At Juniper we coach dog owners to train their dogs using fun, positive and reward-based methods.
We have classes in Newbury and Hungerford for Puppies, older dos that have never been trained and specialist subjects.

James is a really kind and caring person, his training is excellent. We learned a lot about our dog’s behaviour and why they were displaying the challenging behaviour.
Our Bichon is now enjoying his walks much more and we are not stressed after a walk with him. James was also very understanding of our individual difficulties and was able to offer guidance that was specific to our needs as owners. I highly recommend James to anyone needing a dog trainer.

James is very easy to work with, he is informative and gives lots of helpful tips and ideas. He assessed the relationship between me and my dog and quickly explained what was going wrong.
Basically, I was trying in vain to dissuade my dog from using undesired behaviour, when what I need to be doing is making it very clear that this behaviour is not allowed. He then showed me what I needed to do to achieve this, and worked on building my confidence in managing the behaviours. Things started to improve immediately, but it is very much a work in progress. I feel much safer now and although I am much stricter, my dog is still very happy and enjoying his walks. I am very happy with the service James provided.

Excellent response to my request initially from the lovely receptionist then a free consultation given to ensure me and my dog were matched with the right trainer. James has been invaluable in enabling me to better understand my rescue dog and how to train her (and myself 😅) so that we are confident on walks and around children. After only 3 sessions the improvement has been wonderful and we both enjoy our walks without any stress. I am confident that I can contact James at any time if I need any further help with Rosie. What do you love most about your job?
Put simply - being with dogs. I have always been surrounded by dogs and somehow get on with them quickly. I suppose its a mutual respect :-)
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have had businesses of my own before and currently have a small equestrian business so when the chance came up to do Dog training as a business it was a simple choice.
Why should our clients choose you?
I beleive we are very knowledgeable trainers and insist on meeting the dogs and there owners before we propose any solutions so we can understand what exactly is happening to be able to work out the best way to coach the owners to train their dogs.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
We don't like to do this and generally insist on visiting the dogs before we propose any solutions. We would consider however if for logistical reasons we cannot get to see the dog.
Puppy Classes
Our ‘Positivity Programme’ Puppy Class is a comprehensive Training Programme spread over 6 practical weekly lessons. The course is designed for all vaccinated puppies from 10 weeks of age and up to 20 weeks of age.
Dog Training Classes
The ‘Foundation Programme’ dog training classes are for those dogs that have missed out on any previous training or rescue dogs where their history is unknown. This programme gives them the fundamentals missed previously and builds on that to another level.
One to One puppy training
Not all puppies are suited to traditional Puppy Classes. One-to-one Puppy Training can achieve great results
The most common cues are probably known to most owners. Applying them and understanding their use is vital to the health and safety of your dog. We will coach you on how to teach these easily and methodically. Watch, Sit, Stay, Wait, Down, Leave, Touch. . . . .
