About

Hello, my name is Julian and I am a passionate and highly experienced maths teacher and tutor. I have successfully taught Maths for more than 20 years at some of the country’s leading independent and state secondary schools (HABS, Sir John Lawes, STAHS).
I have vast experience of teaching at all levels from ages 11-18 and specialise in preparing for GCSE, IGCSE and A Level examinations with an outstanding record of helping students achieve grades that frequently exceed expectations.
At my first school, Sir John Lawes, I was part of the team that received an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted inspection and whilst at HABS we received the equivalent highest rating from the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
My teaching style is encouraging and positive but also flexible and patient.
I believe that with the right guidance every student possesses the potential to succeed in maths and I have the experience, agility and empathy to tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each individual. A typical lesson would involve breaking down complex mathematical concepts into simpler, more maneageable steps, making its easier for students to grasp the topic being studied.
