I would definitely recommend Judy Laing Photography. I had a lovely day at the workshop, Judy is very welcoming and friendly. I learned a lot about my camera and it’s functions. I also got some good tips on how is best to take certain photographs. I found the way that Judy explains the functions was very simple to follow making it easy to learn quickly. More...

I had looked into a few photography workshops/classes online as I knew I wasn’t getting the best out of my DSLR camera. I was getting frustrated playing about with the settings then just hitting auto and still not being happy with the results. I knew it was a lack of basic knowledge that was letting me down. As much as I tried to do some online research to improve my skills, I came away feeling even more confused by all the terms, phrases and number involved. When I attended Judy’s workshop I was a bit anxious about whether I would feel out of my depth. I absolutely didn’t! Judy was so welcoming and and warm, everybody who attended was lovely and at roughly the same level. I think Judy’s back ground as a teacher helped with how the basics were explained in an easy to understand way.I learnt so many things in the morning that I was excited to try them out in practice later in the afternoon. After a lovey homemade lunch we all headed out to Johnston Gardens to go full manual!! I was so happy with the difference in the images I was capturing just from what we had learnt earlier that day.I would recommend Judy’s workshop to anyone who has a passion for photography but are not quite sure where to start. I just enjoyed the most lovely maternity photography session with Judy. From the moment we arrived, Judy's welcoming and easy going manner, made me and my two year old daughter feel comfortable and excited about the photoshoot. My daughter warmed to Judy instantly and it was so special to get some beautiful (stress-free) photographs with her and my growing baby bump! I know that we will treasure these images forever. The whole experience was really easy and I loved the outfits Judy provided. I thought the photographs were very natural, tasteful and timeless. This experience was a big financial decision for me but I am so glad that I invested in these beautiful photographs. Thank you Judy. More...

I attended Judy's workshop 18th January. The day was very relaxed and very well organised. Food was excellent. The workshop was so informative and much better than trying to read and make sense of a camera manual. Everything was explained in detail and was easy to understand. Throughout the day I found myself having many "light bulb" moments when things "just made sense".After lunch we headed to Johnstone Gardens to put our new knowledge into practise. Being outside we were able to learn about using available light and take our own photos with the guidance of Judy. Everyone had gained so much knowledge they were able to confidently take photos and more importantly able to use their camera settings to get the best results. If you are still on auto I recommend this workshop to get the best out of your camera.Christine More...

A brilliant beginners workshop. It has helped give me the tools to be comfortable forgetting all about auto, and feel in control of my camera, knowing how it works and what i need to do to improve the quality of my shots. The day was relaxed, well presented, informative and balanced perfectly, Judy is also lovely, and very approachable with any questions we had. Being a small group was perfect. More...

Judy's workshop is the most worthwhile thing I've spent money on. It's not like any other training - Judy's is super welcoming, and The workshop is informal and relaxed. The notes are good, as is the pace. I've taken some beautiful snaps since the workshop which is the proof of the pudding. And speaking of pudding; the lunch is worth the visit of nothing else! Thank you Judy! More...

Brilliant course which will provide you with the basics to get you on the path towards achieving great photos and making the most of your camera. I still have a lot lot to learn, but the course has provided me with the confidence to start using my camera to its full potential. I’ve only had my camera for a few months and up until this point I’ve been utterly bamboozled by it!Judy delivered the course brilliantly and in a very relaxed atmosphere. The home baking and lunch provided were amazing too!Would thoroughly recommend this course to anyone looking to lose the fear of coming off auto!!! More...

I would highly recommend Judy for a new born photo shoot. From start to finish, Judy was so professional and organised. It was so lovely being in the comfort of our own home where Judy provided a variety of props to use during the shoot. We felt so at ease and you could tell Judy has lots of experience working with new born babies. She was so patient with keeping my son settled and sleeping. Our pictures turned out to be amazing and I am thrilled with the high quality finish. Thank you for an amazing experience and the wonderful memories we will have from it. We will cherish these photos forever. More...

Today I went to a workshop as part of a christmas present and learned how take my camera off of the infamous 'auto' function and move to manual shooting. Judy is welcoming, friendly and explains the concepts in easy to understand terms. She also gives you a chance to consolidate your learning with a wee walk around a local park. The course was accessible meaning I was able to fully participate despite being quite unwell at the moment. I was amazed that she could operate every camera in the room. The environment is so comfy and the food was amazing. I can fully recommend this to others. More...
