Services

Each session is tailored to your needs on the day and can vary from treatment to treatment.

Massage has many benefits including:

- Abdominal massage can help relieve constipation by aiding the elimination process through the use of gentle strokes in the direction of normal digestive transit.
- Combating the effects of stress and anxiety by relieving muscular tension
- Enhancing the condition of your muscles, tendons and ligaments, thereby improving flexibility
- Highlighting areas of pain and tension (also known as trigger points or knots) and treating them immediately
- Relieving general aches and pains picked up through our normal activities of daily living
- Improving our general sense of wellbeing by taking the time to look after ourselves so that we can look after others.

Prenatal massage is a gentle form of manual therapy that aims to reinvigorate mum-to-be by easing the discomfort associated with pregnancy as her body adapts to the growing baby. Massage therapy during this time can also reduce mental fatigue that can result from anxious thoughts about the pregnancy and sleep disturbance.

During the session we will find the most comfortable positions from which I can work with the aid of cushions, towels and a bolster. The session is entirely led by the needs of the mum-to-be and my aim is to make you feel as safe, supported and comforted as possible.

Professional athletes tend to use targeted deep tissue treatments prior to, during and after sporting events. Sports Massage Therapists form an integral part of their care team because massage can help to keep their soft tissues (muscles, tendons and ligaments) in top condition and reduce the risk of injury.

You do not need to be a top performer to benefit from a deep tissue massage. Whether you are embarking on a new physical activity, or a seasoned marathon runner, at some point you will feel the aches and pains associated with physical exertion. Having a deep tissue massage at this point, or at regular intervals, can help keep your soft tissues in good condition.

Having regular treatments can also highlight areas that are under particular strain and treat them on the spot which helps to stave off injuries and therefore time off training.

So whether you are a parent running after the kids, dog walker, triathlete, gym goer, yogi or runner, a deep tissue treatment may just be what you need to keep you fighting fit!

The main objective of every treatment is to make you feel cared for and renewed.

Adjustments such as your position on the massage couch, depth of pressure used and direction of stroke will be made to ensure your comfort and safety at all times.

Using massage as a complementary therapy during/after your cancer treatment can enhance your wellbeing (as per the Macmillan and Cancer Research websites) in the following ways:

- Release of both physical and psychological tension
- Lifting your mood
- Pain relief
- Improved circulation

Some small research studies also indicate that massage therapy can help you:

- Sleep better
- Feel less nauseous
- Feel less anxious or depressed

** If you are in the process of undergoing treatment, please mention to your healthcare team that you would like to receive a massage treatment to double check that it would be a suitable option for you.

Tends to be more useful for follow up appointments.
