My love of baking came from my mum; she taught me how to make (the best!) sweet shortcrust pastry and delicious cakes and puddings. Once I grew up and left home, I started to expand my baking repertoire by learning to make puff pastry, choux pastry, creme patisserie, creme mousseline, creme diplomat and macarons.

I won an afternoon tea delivery from jessibakes and they really did not disappoint! I won the competition on the Wednesday and had the afternoon tea by the Friday. The scones are moist and crumbly at the same time and came with clotted cream but my favourite was the millionaire shortbread, it was amazing and the caramel was so good! I have ordered from Jessibakes on 2nd February 2021 a Bisoff cake. It was delivered on time by the owner in a cake box. The cake not only looked beautiful but tasted very nice too. The sponge was very light and the cream not overly sweet. I don't like too sweet cakes so this cake thicked all the boxes for me. I would highly recommend Jessibakes for every occasion. What do you love most about your job?
Creating something new each time. I love the artwork involved in taking a delicious cake and turning it into a piece of art. I also love the reaction from clients when they see what I have made for them.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Lockdown and my love of baking and art. I also wanted to spend more time with my family rather than working weekends and evenings in my old role.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
The nature of baking commercially and training received from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health mean it's not just covid that I am cautious of. I keep a very clean kitchen. I make sure all procedures and cleaning requirements and done before any baking starts.
