As with most Puregyms, it's great value - low price for a decently equipped gym and classes included. This gym is quite spacious, though the free weights area is a bit smaller than ideal. Could do with another squat rack and more space for deadlifts. Can get a bit busy at peak evening hours. Staff friendly, changing rooms clean and well maintained. Love the classes at this gym and I really feel ive worked hard as opposed to giving up after 30 mins on cross trainer or treadmill, the classes are high intensity and the only reason I go unless they invest in an assault bike. Only negative is the parking which is costing £5 a week so in theory am paying £18.99 gym membership plus £20 parking per month so that's why I've given 4 stars. More...

Imagine if you can a young lad, 23 years old, a little fat because of his travels and beer, socially awkward and nervous about gyms. With that in your mind we begin. I first started at this gym during the month of August, I was very nervous and hesitant about the gym. My fear was everyone was going to stare and laugh at me for being small and scrawny. But it's not that kind of gym, all the trainers except 2 were very friendly, supportive and always happy to spot and answer any queries. During my first month I didn't enter the weight section for fear of being ridiculed, but after I hired Jake Bone for a month (he's a PT obviously) my fear went away. He was supportive, motivational and answered every question I had. We also had a bit of banter about worlds strongest men like Eddie Hall and the new marvel and star wars films. I hired him for a month and only stopped due the timing of the year and my previous job not paying me a full wage because they suck, not name dropping (NHS). After this my confidence was sky high, I now walk into the gym with confidence and determination to make myself better. My only negative would be that the people who go to the gym don't put their weights back or take them off the machine. For example i saw someone leg press 300kg but left that weight on for a small girl after. She was not happy. Any bad sides to this gym are mainly the people who attend it.It has a huge open area perfect for gymnastic routines or sprints, the classes are cool and on all day, they have a room dedicated to spin cycles and multiple cardio and benches. I have heard they will be getting a sled as well for cardio and some refurbishments will be happening, which makes me sad as I will be moving and with a heavy heart miss this gym. Located right near Gateshead Metro. Gym has a lot of the same machines dotted around the place. There is a small freedom area. And a large studio area for classes. There are Olympic bars for powerlifting. Usually not very busy so you won't be waiting long for any machine. If your new make sure to bring your own padlock for your locker or you can buy one from the vending machine. Worth it for the low price and no joining fee. More...
