Isabel Hunt - Art Classes

I joined Isabel’s class, completely unsure of what to expect, I had just retired from work and had not painted since leaving school. I need not have worried, Isabel is a very welcoming, encouraging and truly inspirational tutor. I am so pleased to have made many new friends at her art classes. We have a very mixed range of abilities and styles but all derive the same pleasure in creating our own pictures. Isabel encourages and guides us suggesting new ideas, and techniques for us to experiment with and introducing unfamiliar media to broaden our expertise. Having attended Art Classes for many years, I have found Isabel's approach inspiring. Members discuss and share their work with each other, rather than working alone. I have been a member of Isabel's art group since it started over three years ago and cannot praise it too highly. If you have any artistic ability in you then Isabel will nurture it and help it to flourish. I started as a complete novice and have now progressed to the level where I feel confident enough to exhibit my work in art shows and enter competitions. Students start with the basics: understanding colour, composition and drawing technique so no one need feel that a lack of basic knowledge is a hindrance. The main medium we use is watercolour, but students also learn other media including pencil, line and wash, charcoal and pastel, and under Isabel's tutelage some students have moved on to acrylics and oil paints. Students are also able to turn their work into beautiful greetings cards, prints and calendars and to sell them at a profit! Age is no barrier, so whether you are nine or ninety, if you have ever wanted to try your hand at art then Isabel's art group is the place to be. More...

Although i am not a student of the art group as such, i have been very impressed at the quality of work produced by those who at the beginning were unsure they had it in them to become artists. Through Isabel's encouragement and enthusiasm, everyone has improved their technique using different mediums, and each one has found their own particular style and favourite method. Not only has the group evolved into a very good art group, it has also evolved into a very good gathering of friends, again, due to the encouragement and enthusiasm of Isabel to get everyone involved.
