Great food and atmosphere, loved our evening last night and was happy to see that it was as great as last time we visited two years ago. Would recommend to everyone as the place not to miss. Fairly busy on a Tuesday night when I visited. Warm ambience, loved the table names of Lakes walks. Staff super attentive and friendly. Menu has a good variety at moderate prices. Very good restaurant in centre of Ambleside. Good well stocked bar and welcoming, tasteful decor. Good menu choice but not quite as extensive in out of season months which is understandable. We had seafood pasta and bobbing bobotie for starters. Both really good portions and very tasty. For mains we chose smoked haddock and salmon fillet again both dishes delicious and perfectly cooked. Just lovely! The waitress who served us was very friendly. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The place was very cosy and nicely decorated throughout. They definitely deserve 5 stars! The only fault I had with the place is, the staff do stand around while you are eating. Although I'm aware they are only doing this to make sure they are there if anyone needs anything, it did make me feel quite uncomfortable as I like to be left alone to eat without feeling like I'm being watched over. My wife and I had dinner at Lucy’s On A Plate, and we had the most amazing time. It is extremely cozy and romantic. The servers were great. Looking for a dog friendly restaurant sometimes means you find yourself eating at places you wouldn't normally pick through lack of option. Well, tonight for the first time in years we found somewhere we would be happy to eat with or without our dog. Staff were very considerate when seating us; ensuring we were strategically placed away from other dogs. This meant we were able to relax more when dining.
The dining areas are very nice and the space is used to very good effect, not being overcrowded. Service was swift and the front of house were extremely attentive. The food itself is great. Well balanced starters which leave you wanting more. The mains are packed with flavour and full of locally championed produce. There is also possibly the largest dessert menu I have seen, each dish very different and very delightful sounding. If you want a relaxed dining experience with excellent food then look no further.
