I’ve worked in practice for the past 5 years working in bookkeeping, VAT, Payroll, Audit and Accounts prep. I am currently studying to become a chartered accountant but have started doing bookkeeping as a sole trader to start going out on my own and eventually would like to set up my own practice.

What kind of accounting services do you provide?
I mostly provide bookkeeping services as a start up business this is an area I am really confident I can provide a great service for and add value to clients with my other areas of expertise.
Why is it so important for businesses to hire a great accountant?
A great accountant should be able to ensure their clients have a really good understanding of their finances. For a lot of people their business is their livelihood so being able to simplify accountancy as much as possible to the point where businesses can be really confident in where they are financially and know what is included within their accounts.
What do you love most about your job?
I prefer working with smaller businesses as I think it’s a lot more personal and I think I can add a lot of value within my services. One thing I enjoy most is being able to get a client who isn’t really sure about their finances to a point where they feel a lot more confident and aren’t’ dreading having to do their accounts!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I would love to eventually open my own practice, once I complete my ACA (chartered exams) I would like to work for myself full time. I’ve always enjoyed bookkeeping and I think this is a great first step to start building a portfolio

My services are online/remote unless otherwise requested. Most softwares I can use remotely unless you use a bespoke system.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I haven’t found this to be a problem, clients will post invoices and bank statements to me or email them over so there isn’t much face to face contact.
Bookkeeping
I have experience using accounting softwares such as sage, quick books and xero. Within my bookkeeping service I reconcile UK and foreign bank accounts, trade debtors, trade debtors, payroll and tax. I also account for depreciation of assets, prepayments and accruals either monthly or at the year end and can provide monthly management accounts if needed
