Huw has been amazing with my son and his grades have gone up and he's also moved up a set in English. He is also very good and cares about the kids wellbeing. My son really enjoys his lessons, both English and wellbeing. More...

I first met Huw during the time of Covid. I originally sought help for my son who was struggling at home with his remote learning but also confidence issues.
Huw was an absolute marvel! The difference in my sons abilities especially his lack of confidence has changed dramatically with Huw’s help.
I found Huw to be calm in his approach, kind and consistent in helping my son Leo .
He would challenge Leo to reach a fuller potential in all he taught him and I also felt Huw did this in considerate and friendly manner and had a real connection with Leo. Which in itself can be challenging with a teenage boy.
I as a Mum feel incredibly grateful for all Huw has done in helping Leo overcome his struggles. Leo is like a new boy, growing in confidence daily.
I can’t possibly thank Huw enough for all he’s done for Leo.
Leo is now applying for University, learning to drive, plays football for a local team and enjoys the gym daily. All of this would have been impossible at one time!
Thank you Huw!

After making the decision to home educate my daughter I became quite overwhelmed with the task at hand and a friend recommended Huw. I explained beforehand to Huw that my daughter was extremely nervous and apprehensive about the sessions. Huw came and met my daughter and talked about the things she enjoyed and took the time to understand what motivates her. Since my daughter started with Huw her anxiety levels have decreased and she's become so much happier. Her attitude towards education has completely changed and she looks forward to her tutoring sessions. Huw has brought out her creative side and she has a passion again. I can't thank Huw enough and would highly recommend. More...

Huw has worked with my daughter for 18 months. His calm personality and holistic approach have encouraged her to go from being unable to emotionally attend lessons to happily increasing to an hour. He is organised, helpful and always tailors lessons to her interests. I would not hesitate to recommend Huw 100%. More...

Art expressions ,particularly drawings, provide useful information on development in children and Huw was great at this.He showed how art therapy and sandplay is a useful development process for children with psychological issues and emotional disturbances. He provided children with necessary tools to overcome their difficulties.
Huw would be a great counselor and would deliver effective therapeutic interventions.

Art therapy and sand tray therapy are an amazing way of helping children communicate their feelings and emotions non-verbally and Huw has mastered this technique. He provides children with a safe haven to overcome their emotional and psychological obstacles. By providing art and sand therapy interventions, he ensures that children have a second platform, something to fall back on from the struggles of regular classroom routines. The students too looked forward to these sessions with him.
In short, Huw has perfectly managed the special needs of children by giving them an opportunity to develop themselves through a pathway that not only makes it easy for them but also helps them feel confident and ambitious.

Q&As

Using creative and innovative methods to help empower students so that they can read and write fluently . Seeing students improve their confidence is also very rewarding.

In my previous work in schools, I saw that children and adults do not have access to affordable and tailored support for learning difficulties. I saw that I had the experience and training to offer a holistic service.

Uniquely, I have a range of creative and teaching skills to support clients so that they can enjoy learning . The students I have worked with report increased well being and confidence.

Yes. I currently support students online through zoom and I provide access to resources that I can be utilised to help the sessions. On the rare occasion technology fails, I also utilise social media such as WhatsApp. Clients email or WhatsApp activities and receive resources.

Where face to face, social distancing is ensured, resources disinfected and clients are asked whether anyone in their household is self isolating or in quarantine. In some case, where appropriate face masks may be worn.

Services

Using visual activities such as drawing words, colour codes and playdoh to improve spelling and reading fluency.

I also provide picture prompts to encourage and offer texts that will engage students.

Creativity and engagement mean students make excellent progress.

Uniquely, I am experienced in teaching primary, secondary and adult learners. My record in supporting students pass GCSE and SATS exams is exceptional.

I have over 20 years experience in teaching GCSE students. Innovative and engaging, my teaching style encourages students to achieve positive results.

I spent over six years as an assistant headteacher in two primary settings and was entrusted as Literacy Coordinator.

Due to my excellent teaching methods, students enjoy learning and engage well with sessions.

Conditions such as dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD can be overwhelming and lead to anxiety and even depression.

As well as providing mentoring and guidance to help resolve the anxiety, you will be assessed for learning needs and interventions are suggested that will differentiate for learning needs.

A report can be provided to give to educational establishments when needed.
