A great overnight stay for a party at The Forum in Stevenage town centre. On arrival the reception staff were very welcoming and professional. Check in was easy and only took a couple of minutes.I had already seen on the website that I needed to park in a car park opposite (across a dual carriageway) which was fine, except the hotel has to be reached via an underpass and as I turned up after dark it didn't feel particularly safe taking that route from the car park to the hotel.Other than that, it was a great stay - the room was lovely, clean, and spacious, breakfast was lovely with lots of choice, check out was again very easy, and best of all you don't need to check out until 12pm, so you can go down to breakfast then go back up and sort your room out.I would definitely stay here again. Small and tight car park but found a space, check in was fine and friendly. Offered an upgrade on arrival which was great. Headed off to meet colleagues and when I got back later realised the bathroom was quite a state, Lots of sealant bodged and just generally rough.What I didn’t realise until the next morning is that there wasn’t a bath towel. Probably would have done better with a standard room. Also, there are no sockets near the bed which is annoying when you use your phone as an alarm clock. J'ai eu accès à une chambre executive à l'arrière de l'hôtel.Plus spacieuse que les chambres habituelles, et le fait de ne pas donner sur la rue principale élimine le bruit assez fort des voitures. Donc une chambre très silencieuse. Très grand lit confortable, salle de bains bien équipée. My husband and I stayed at the holiday inn in Stevenage last night. We couldn’t fault customer service. All the staff were polite and made sure we were happy. My only concern was the fact that both as we were checking in and checking out, we were queuing behind some very ignorant and rude customers who insulted the staff for no reason at all. Someone was shouting about a dead fly in their room and another person complained that there wasn’t a 24 hour bar. The staff did their best but looked intimidated by the experiences. At breakfast a group of men took their meals to where my husband and I had left our bags to save a table. When I went to retrieve them they shouted at each other and laughed at me so I was almost reduced to tears. I believe this group of men were at a Christmas work party and are from Stevenage. I grew up in Stevenage and am fond of the place but felt embarrassed bringing my husband here and was totally disgusted by this behaviour. Stayed for two nights while visiting friends. Got exactly what was paid for. Disappointing that car parking charges are £10 for 24 hrs and yet found out afterwards that parking in multi-storey across the road would only have cost me £3. 50 !!! Bedding could be cleaner what was once white was grey tinged. Bath slow to drain the water away which meant paddling while showering. Room was cold when arrived but overnight was very hot and stuffy. Did not opt to pay £10 per day for breakfast as preferred to explore local options and found much cheaper. Opted to run outside rather than use the gym so no idea how much of a price add on that would be. Bar prices are pricey but I suppose you get that in most hotels. £53 per night which was not too bad but add on car parking and breakfast ...... I will let you do the maths. Executive suite - clean, spacious and lovely bathroom, only complaint was that the tea and coffee options had not been replenished and that there was only one cup for a two guest stay. Arrived to very helpful staff at desk could not do any more for us .parking was easy to back of hotel payment by card in hotel .
