What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Expressing a connection between the viewer and the image is the key to taking a great photograph, and whether it's your wedding day that I'm photographing, or your children playing, or pictures of the products your business produces, I want you to feel that special connection.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I always want to know about my clients - who they are, what they do, their interests and their passions. I also like to find out what they want from the photographs I make for them - not just what they want to use them for or whether they want them in an album, but what thoughts and emotions they expect to experience when they see for the first time the photographs I make for them. This helps me deliver the images they really want, the ones they are going to have that connection
What do you love most about your job?
As a photographer, I go to places and events I would never probably ever go to otherwise, and I meet people I would have little chance of otherwise meeting, and that's definitely the best thing. And to make photographs of or with those people when I am there is great.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I need to make photographs every day, wherever I go. And since I also need to make a living, it seemed sensible to combine the two.
People do say I am good at it, too!
