Joined Grid City with my husband Clive on Feb 4th and can’t describe how it felt to get Graduate of the Month for May! And if I can do it... I’ve always watched my weight and eaten well but we are now doing even better and can see and feel the results. We love walking but, as we have got older, we realise it wasn’t going to be enough. We saw Farah’s advert around New Year, booked a chat and we haven’t look back since. We feel stronger, my chronic back pain has not flared up once and my balance has greatly improved. Clive has gone from being very wary about exercising at all, let alone in a group, to being confident about the whole experience. He can really feel and see the difference too, and it’s all based on Grid City’s commitment to its Graduates. Farah and Afro take the time to know each of us, so that they can convert our enthusiasm into achievement, regardless of starting ability or confidence. They can tell when to just let us enjoy the progress already made and when to challenge us to step outside our comfort zone. I love lifting the weights and with Farah’s support I’ve really surprised myself and am so happy with the results so far. She is an amazing coach, just the perfect motivator. I joined GCF in July 2018. I was never one for the gym. Had many gym membership in the past but I would get bored and stop going. Since starting with Farah and Afro I have learnt so much more about nutrition and also the exercise sessions have helped me tone and most importantly get fitter. My goal was to tone and get fit. It has been over an year now that I have been with GCF and my experience of training with these two beautiful people -Farah and Afro has been amazing. I met Farah by chance, had my coffee and chat the very next day and joined in their 8 week program at the end of the chat. Such is Farah’s and Afro’s conviction and infectious energy. There is no other place then GCF where I have felt confident, energised and healthier. Thanks to their two amazing instructors (Afro and Farah) who run a programme that tackles physical strength, general well-being and nutrition. Since I joined GCF in October, I have not only been keen to attend their sessions but also been motivated by Afro to do the 5K. I never thought I could ever run for 5 minutes constantly but just in 3 months I managed 5k. Unlike those normal gyms I signed up for and never attended, GCF have weekly sessions that are different to keep us motivated with friendly and helpful members who are always having fun whilst working hard. They also provide session tailored to individual needs, recipes by Farah, podcast sessions,running sessions and much more. I would highly recommend GCF. More...

I was very skeptical while joining Grid City Fitness thinking it is just another boot camp and I will lose interest very soon. I was absolutely wrong. Would just like to big up grid city fitness farah and afro are really inspirational I love the work outs and they have opened my eyes with their knowledge of nutrition I have never eaten so well and really enjoyed it. I joined GCF in October 2017 purely by chance - I had a chat with Afro whose enthusiasm alone inspired me. I joined up for the 8 week challenge initially . .. Never thinking I would complete it (sadly my defeatist attitude �). However, here I am almost into August and still attending classes with Farah twice a week! Amazingly I had lost 16lbs by the end of December and more amazing still - I've kept it off!!! I cannot recommend Farah & Afro highly enough ... This training gave me the boost I needed to help improve my mindset. Which was great as it was the main reason for my joining. Working within a small group helps to give you the personal training you need. I have knee and back problems and Farah and Afro gave me alternative workouts when needed. Understanding the food we eat combined with the workouts, made making the right choices easier. Go for it. You won't regret it. More...

Getting fit and me never went well together.... that is until I met Afro 8 weeks back. Having tried a few fitness routines before I had given up hope to be fit, to feel energised and more importantly have fun while doing that - that’s what Afro and Farha brought to play. The one thing that puts people off fitness is the muscle soreness during the initial days. The stretching exercises helped ease my way into more challenging and harder routines. Afro listens to you, understands your body and helps you push yourself more than you would have imagined. Being a vegetarian the nutrition plan was customised to meet my needs without compromising the overall nutrition. At the end of 8 weeks I have achieved what I set about to achieve. But as Afro keeps reminding - fitness is not the goal but a journey. I would be taking this journey with no inhibitions with Grid City Fitness and I would highly recommend them for anybody who lacks motivation, a bit lazy (like I used to be) but still would like a coach who could motivate you through this journey. Having lost a lot of mobility due to knee problems I was very wary of risking further pain by exercising wrongly but I knew I had to do something to turn around feeling increasingly unhealthy. I saw Grid City Fitness in one of those random Facebook ads that pops up. I started to read more then exchanged messages with coach Afro. It was clear from this exchange that this wasn’t a military boot camp or a one size fits all. I met with Afro for a coffee and chat and this further gave me confidence that we could start from where I was. I joined the 8 week programme with coach Farah and was amazed how quickly I gained strength and stamina and how straightforward the nutrition advice was to follow. 12 weeks on and I’m waking from a restful night’s sleep and feeling energised all day. My thinking is clearer and my shape has changed. And this is just the start! More...

I’m nearing the finish of my 8-week course and have enjoyed every minute. Getting fit and losing inches is not easy, especially with so much else going on in my life, but I’m succeeding beyond my expectations. I’ve had loads of excellent coaching, I’ve learned a huge amount about good nutrition, I’m a lot fitter and stronger, and I feel a million times better emotionally. Having a goal and succeeding is a huge boost. I’m in a great group of people, who are fun, friendly and encouraging, and we’re all in this together. No one judges. Cannot recommend these guys highly enough. Joining the 8 week challenge was one of the best things I have ever done. Totally life changing which sounds like a massive cliche, but so true. I used to be annoyed that I didn’t lose weight as I rushed around all day and never had time to eat! Now I eat proper, nutritious food and enjoy exercising as I get results! My whole family have benefitted too. We have made easy changes to the way we eat and cook together and are all the better for it. Met some lovely new friends too and laughed, a lot! I joined GCF after seeing an ad on facebook one morning. I'd been feeling quite down about my weight and the prospect of going on yet another 'diet' seemed so depressing, so i thought what do i have to lose from going for a chat and a coffee with GCF. Wow! it was the best thing I have ever done. Farah was so welcoming and friendly and made me feel at ease. The best thing about joining was how farah and afro had so much belief and confidence in me and my ability that i started to feel so good about myself. I love the way the classes are quite small so you get one on one attention and each exercise is tailored to your ability. You are given full nutrition coaching and this was an amazing insight for me. I also love attending class each week, in fact i look forward to them. My weight is going down which is great but the main issue for me is my increased fitness level and the nutrition guidance i receive. I cook amazing meals, which all my family enjoy and i havent felt this good in years. My fitness levels are now so good i can actually run 5k without stopping, which i've NEVER been able to do. This i now believe is because my nutrition and fitness was nowhere near good enough in the past. I have finally realised after all the years of dieting and fad crazes, that the ONLY way to lose weight and feel great is healthy balanced meals and exercise, no tricks, no gimmicks, just that! I joined grid city fitness after multiple attempts of failing at diets And a slipped gastric band fail, Suffering with arthritis in my knees and being obese made it very difficult to do every day tasks, I hated the gym as always wanted to hide in the corner out of sight, But from the get go everyone was friendly and motivating and also had there own hang up's , I've just finished my 8 week Challenge and lost 20lbs and over 20 cm on my belly and thighs , and I'm off all of my medication for my arthritis,and my fitness has increased by no end, And I'm looking forward to start my next step as a graduate �

I joined Grid City Fitness when it was suggested by a very good friend of mine that I would benefit from getting fit. I am 59 years old and have never done “keep fit” or played any energetic sport. I am type 2 diabetic and having had pneumonia have lost approx half of my left lung. I got out of breath just going on a walk. I was concerned that I would fail to cope with the course or feel a right plonker. But I gave it a go. I had a great chat with Farah who put my mind at rest about my concerns and has been absolutely fantastic, supportive and patient, always pushing in a way that was encouraging. Her nutritional advice was exceedingly helpful. I have now completed the 8 week challenge and have enrolled on the Graduate program. I am much, much fitter, losing weight around my waist and loving it!. I have and do recommend Grid City Fitness to anyone that wants to take care of their health. More...

Feeling fantastic because of Grid City Fitness. I hated gyms and had so many failed memberships and struggled trying to start a new diet every month. GCF has been great. Fitness classes in small groups without any pressure of a gym environment. Nutritional advice - it's not a diet, just learning to eat properly. Support in our facebook group. Laughs with fellow trainees. The social side has definitely kept me going. In 7 weeks I have lost 1/2 a stone, and my whole body shape has changed. But more importantly I feel great in my clothes and the fittest I have been in years. Can't wait to carry on as a Graduate! I would recommend to everyone! More...

It took me ages to pluck up the courage to join Grid City Fitness. I'm so glad I did. I felt too self conscious to go to a gym and didn't have the self motivation to go it alone so the small class sizes were a big plus for me. I have Crohn's disease and, therefore, a limited diet so the nutrition advice has been vital. I have to admit, it took me two or three weeks to get in the right mind-set and I nearly gave up half way through. I found I needed to relax a bit and not put so much pressure on myself. Afro is a brilliant motivator. I have met some amazing people, everyone is so welcoming and we have a laugh. I can't believe I am saying this......I actually (sort of) look forward to each session as I love the benefits I am reaping. My body shape has changed and my clothes fit much better. I have lost some weight, feel more confident and am less stressed. What's not to like? More...

This is defoe nit a gym don't do them have to many illnesses wouldn't survive on. It's a mind set programme run by 2 highly committed people afro and farah that wants everyone to suceed. In changing you mind set to incorporate healthy food and an exercise programme. Does it work? well i have fybromylgia m.e. Diabetes asthma frozen shoulders haglands deformity 3 discs missing in my lower spine to name just a few and age against me. Joined and set myself an unobtainable goal of 1 stone in 4 weeks for my holiday. Would of been lucky if i reached half but with farahs help i achieved it grid city fitness is like an extended family. A small price to pay to enjoy a better and healthy life, we all want to live as long as possible take the 8 week challenge and begin the road to a healthier life. �� ��� More...

I joined Grid City Fitness after a friend was doing so well with her health and fitness and was singing Farah's praise. I was getting so sick of the way I was looking and the dress sizes were getting bigger. Grid City Fitness is completely different from anything I have tryed and failed before, they catered for you as a individual right down to your fitness plan, they help you realise your eating habits and redirect them. Farah's support is amazing she made me feel comfortable and i instantly took to her, she is always there whenever you need her and she is truly inspiring. I am so pleased with my decision to join GCF, probably one of the best things I have done for myself. I wasn't looking for massive weight loss (wouldn’t mind it though) but wanted to get fitter. I had tried gyms in the past but found it too intimidating. GCF is totally different. It's the first time I don’t find excuses to miss the class and actually attend it :-). My experience with grid city fitness had been greatly successful, my personal nutrition has improved and I feel and look healthier, Made me think of cutting down on sugar Instead of reaching for a bar of chocolate every time I am stressed. Weight-lift training with coach Farah has improved my strength and I have recently felt a massive difference when picking up my grandkids and doing the weekly shopping. Also, squats. I find getting off seats much easier The exercises throughly increased my balance in public transport leaving me confident to stand with ought needing a seat. Joining Grid City Fitness is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. My aim wasn't necessarily to lose weight but to feel fitter and stronger without being part of a huge gym class or feeling lost on my own in the gym. I've seen result in just 6 weeks. I work in a highly pressured job and I've gone from feeling lethargic and doing zero exercise to feeling energised and actually looking forward to exercising at least 3 times a week.... I even have biceps. Afro is fantastic and very supportive no matter your ability, and I've met some fantastic people on the way. I am an exercise convert and proud to be part of this group. Join! I joined Grid City Fitness to lose weight in time for my wedding in September, I've been stuck in a rut so long, eating big portions and drinking too much wine which inevitably would end up with me putting on more weight. Afro has been great at pushing me in class to do things that I didn't think I could do and each session I can feel myself getting fitter and stronger as well as the inches falling off! The last 3 months have been inspirational. Farah n Afro have been amazing guides in this journey. The most important learning has been about myself, my thoughts n how my experiences over last several years have been influencing my eating habits. In the process I have realised that unless one corrects these faults any effort put in may only give sub optimal results. I have been able to pin point these thought paradigms along with some wonderful coaching and the result is a loss of 10 kgs over 3 months! I was nervous at first but the team made me feel at ease. The exercise is tailored to meet individual needs and I'm already feeling better for the changes I've made so far. Not just training but nutritional information given above and beyond the 'eat your veg' advice including a supermarket trip to explain the pros and cons of foods advertised as being healthy.
