By way of short introduction my background is in finance, having spent ten years at HSBC and Goldman Sachs. I have also built a portfolio of my own investments ranging from SEIS investments in private start up companies through to shares in listed companies.

At HSBC my roles included credit approvals with a personal approval authority to lend up to £8 million on my sole discretion. My focus was on Small and Medium Size Enterprises across all sectors, products and credit ratings. From start up, to rapidly growing, to established, to distressed.

At Goldman Sachs I became a voting member of the investment committee, where I approved lending to businesses in all sectors, all credit qualities, for all debt products. My responsibilities include ensuring deal teams undertook appropriate diligence, analyse, structuring, documentation, and negotiation of corporate finance packages.

As a result I have reviewed and assisted thousands of businesses with solving their financing needs. I have built strong commercial acumen with deep and broad knowledge of how businesses work across all sectors and sizes.

I have a particular passion for working with SMEs and love to offer my knowledge to help startups raise financing on the best possible terms and also to make the best possible strategic decisions. I build financial models, I create business plans, I develop and implement frameworks for reporting, forecasting and decision making. I mentor business owners in fundraising and strategy, and I also help them manage teams and processes.
