Felicity did an amazing job creating my perfect wedding dress! She altered an existing dress I'd found, by restructuring the bodice and waistline, so it fitted me like a glove. She also cleverly used the offcuts of material from taking up the hem to create a beautiful sash, it was exactly what I wanted and transformed my dress into something original and unique. Felicity is lovely, she made me feel completely at ease and accommodated all my requests (including an unusual under-bustle idea that worked brilliantly for all night dancing!). Felicity made my daughter’s wedding dress this Summer. My daughter had an idea of what she wanted and Felicity, with her expertise, advised us on how it could be realised. Felicity was a delightful person to work with and the process of having the dress made was very easy for us! My daughter and I were delighted with the dress: it was just what she wanted! It was ready in plenty of time and fitted beautifully. It is not an inexpensive option but you get an original one off dress that is made to exact measurements from a personal pattern. There is a lot of choice of fabrics, colour and trimming. I’m sorry it has taken me so long to write about how happy we were with the dress and the whole process! Felicity made my wedding dress in 2012 and I still love it. I had toured the bridal gown shops looking for my ideal dress and nothing quite lived up to what I wanted. The first time I met Felicity and described what I wanted she drew my ideal dress and there was no question of her not making it. My wedding dress wasn't the traditional white/cream it was teal so I can wear it again and I am hoping to do so for my 50th next year. Felicity carried out a whole load of alterations to my wedding dress earlier this year. I was really nervous about some of the work that needed to be done as was such delicate material and had so much beading, and needed new sleeves (but a sample dress and the material had changed colour slightly so needed to be matched with new material), but it looked perfect when she was done! At the last minute I needed to have a belt sewn on to my wedding dress and I was booked in within a few days and had my dress back in a week from my appointment. I approached a few High Street wedding dress shops and didn’t find them particularly welcoming. In addition to this, I had a lot of surgery during the time when I “should” have been looking for wedding dresses. So by the time I came to seriously shop in December, I was told I was “cutting it fine” to purchase a dress to be ready for my wedding in June 2017.

So I decided to try a dress maker and luckily I found Felicity! During our first consultation she was friendly and welcoming and was able to turn my unsophisticated description into a wedding dress design. She also interpreted the pictures I had taken with me from magazines, and was immediately able to identify the style I was drawn to. Felicity explained the different types of fabrics to me in a way I could understand and was completely honest about the costs and benefits of each, so I felt I could make an informed decision.

She got the designs over to me before Christmas and I immediately paid the deposit to secure my date. She advised she would start working on my dress in February to be ready in plenty of time for June.

In January I went to have my measurements taken. Again Felicity made me feel very comfortable and it was a very different experience to going into a shop – it wasn’t based on being a size 12, 14, 16, 18; it was about the measurements of my figure and that was all.

Felicity then made a mock-up of my dress using cheaper fabric so I could check I was happy with the design in reality. She started working on my dress and I had a few fittings to make sure the width and length of the dress were right. We took photos during each meeting which was a nice record of how it progressed.

I requested a final fitting about 10 days before the wedding in case there had been any drastic changes and Felicity then had the dress steamed and ready for me to collect a couple of days before my wedding.

My advice would be to trust your instincts on what you want and then trust the advice Felicity gives you!

Right from the word "go", Felicity listened to me and tried to understand what I was looking for in a wedding dress. And whilst it was obvious in some ways ("for the love of god, nothing strapless! "), in other, more subtle ways, it wasn't. I mean, how often do you buy a dress like this? How can you be sure of what you want, what will flatter and suit your figure, and what will look good in photos 10, 20 or 30 years down the line? Felicity was fantastic in getting to grips with what I needed from my wedding dress, and was upfront from the start about how it would be made, what it would cost and what my options were. She even helped me source the silk for my bridesmaids' dresses - a beautiful gunmetal grey.In the end, my dress was perfect - not just what I wanted, but what I didn't know I wanted too; a picture-perfect gown that was not only what I had asked for, but also what was right for me - and Felicity built that into the design by getting to know me, and understanding who I was, and getting that into my dress.
