Financial Advisors

Excellent call with Matt offering some great information and clarity for me. This was also followed up by an email with a couple of very useful articles.
Much appreciated and I would highly recommend speaking to them.

Matt helped me with my pension. I wasn't sure what options I had and if it were worthwhile consolidating them. I wanted my tax free cash and he explained my options and how this would affect my pension income in the future. I am happy with the plan we have in place. More...

Empirical Financial Planning arranged life cover for me. They were quick to respond, very professional, and kept me fully informed as to the progress of my application. Their recommendations were clear and made perfect sense. I’m comfortable I now have the right cover in place. I would certainly recommend them. More...

Q&As

Being in a position to genuinely help people, by delivering a service that's completely focussed on them and their best interests, free from any bias, sales targets, or obligation to recommend inferior solutions.

Empirical Financial Planning is the culmination of over 15 years of industry knowledge and experience. It was borne from a desire to genuinely do what's best for people.

We're a next-generation Financial Advice Practice that uses what we feel are cutting-edge processes and methodologies to seek out not only a suitable solution for our client's needs, but actively seeks out the optimal solution.

We use a unique blend of economic theory, empirical data, and behavioural finance as guiding principles. It's in our DNA.

An example of this is the economic theory of "utility maximisation". This, in simple terms, means allocating your budget to areas where you'll get the most value, or "bang for the buck". This can help where you are torn between protecting your family, living for today and saving for tomorrow when your budget has limits.

We use Cash Flow Modelling as standard when advising on Pensions/Retirement Planning or Investments. We don't charge additional fees for this or reserve it only for specific segments of clients.

The end result is a simple, easy-to-understand set of recommendations that gives you peace of mind and value for money.

The majority of this was not possible as an employee in a "legacy" or "traditional" IFA practice.

Clients should consider working with Empirical if they are seeking honest, unbiased Financial Advice. With our guiding principles, there are no pushy sales tactics or obligation to proceed. We're happy to talk to anyone that feels they need advice, whether they are just starting out in their career, or nearing/in retirement - Evidence-based Advice can deliver real value no matter your stage in life.

The recommendations we make are based on thorough research and cutting-edge principles, which are clearly presented and easy to understand. We won't shower you with jargon, but we'll give you as much information as you need and go into as much detail as you like. We're radically transparent.

We like the phrase "Sophistication, Simplified" because even though there are some complex methodologies and processes behind what we do, the end result is a clear, easy-to-understand report and recommendation.

We're happy to talk to you to see if we can help.

The key things clients should consider when comparing us to other Advisers or your existing Adviser:

1. Is the Adviser Independent or Restricted to specific products?
2. What are their fees?
3. What is the total cost of ownership - i.e the total of all charges including Adviser, Investment, Product fees - not just upfront, but on an ongoing basis too.
4. What risk is being taken to achieve the investment return and is the portfolio optimised.
5. How are your portfolios rebalanced and what is the rationale behind this policy?
6. What ongoing service will you receive and how is performance benchmarked?
7. Do they use Cash Flow modelling as standard?
