What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
That depends on what you're photographing. But if you're photographing people you need to make a connection at a person-to-person level, and then you need a bit of patience to allow your subject to relax and forget the camera is there. Never be in a rush to take a photography.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Do you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve and do you know how you will use the photographs?
What do you love most about your job?
In general, being a photographer allows me observe and capture those transient, frations of moments that quickly pass by and which are rarely noticed or remembered. But those little, fine slices of time can be filled with drama and humour, love and anger and all the degrees of life and emotion.
Being a family photographer is a rare priviledge. It allows me to experience people at their best and to document and portray the heartfelt relationships within a family.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I've been taking photographs for 35+ years and have worked both freelance and as an employee. My work used to take me away from home a lot which became tiring after a while. Starting my own business allowed me to keep taking photographs and still read my kids a bedtime story at the end of the day.
Why should our clients choose you?
I'm experienced, professional and fairly unflappable. And I think a good photo session is really a collaboration, so we'll figure out a way to make it relaxed and enjoyable.
