How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Most garages are suitable for conversion to extra living space, checking to see if your garage walls are just one skin of brickwork or 9 inch or cavity wall , this makes a difference to the amount of money that a conversion will cost also roof structure is worth looking at because building control will expect a warm roof to be installed, this can be quite expensive garage conversions on average are between £6000 -£10000 depending upon works involved double garages can be more expensive
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Building control should be informed of your conversion , this costs money but gives you the customer peace of mind that all works will be carried out professionally, first stage is to find out if the garage opening has a footing to build off once this is ascertained work can commence plumbing and heating pipes need to be run through from existing house source, electrics need to be installed ( just remember by adding extra load and new regulations the fuse board may need to be changed in the property ) floor levels can then be brought up to house level and plastering can begin insulation can be quite expensive in doing your garage conversion I personally leave bricking the front of the garage up until last thing so all materials and trades can gain access without having to come through the property, building control make occasional visits to sign off works and the completion certificate will give you complete peace of mind and will be used if you wish to sell your property in the future

Elite building and groundwork’s was started by myself in 1999, I previously ran a bigger groundwork company which I sold on in 1997

I have always worked for myself, I just always wanted to be my own boss lol
