An absolutely amazing dentist. The staff are always very friendly and will go through what they're going to do before they start work on you which is quite assuring. I went to 3 different dental practices prior to this one including a private practice in order to get my root canal sorted and they were all awful to be quite blunt which is why I was over the moon when I finally found this dental practice. Atm I get my dental care for free but I wouldn't have an issue paying once I no longer qualify for free dental treatment because this place would be worth every penny- it's not often you find a hidden gem like this. It's taken a few goes at other dentists before we decided that Edgbaston Dental Centre is right for our family. I moved back to the midlands and had been quite sad to leave my former dentist, and I was very agitated by the lack of proper care in the Sparkhill/Sparkbrook area for several reasons. My younger brothers have had both NHS and private treatment here. Doctor Amar S. was able to treat a deep cavity in good time for my younger brother after catching it on an x-ray, and was happy for us to go private for a composite white-filling. We're pleased to say that the filling is so-far a success even though he had some reservations given it was deeper than he would have expected. It has now been more than a month since my brother has had the filling. He has made not a single complaint. Doctor Amar S. was helpful, and reassured us that he was happy to see us at anytime if the filling became problematic. Doctor Amar S. was also very patient with our questions, and wasn't put off by an overzealous parent or carer. He certainly appeared to be using modern up-to-date equipment, including a dental-dam to keep moisture out of the composite, which -- after having four composite fillings at a high-end clinic in London -- I had not come across before! Recently, we've had a bad experience from an orthodontist, referred to from this clinic. I spoke with Corrine J. at the reception, and she was sympathetic, patient, and very precise with her advice on the various pathways we could take to move our orthodontist. She also followed up calls within the hour. Thank you for helping us with this process with clear advice.Overall, the receptionists, the practitioners and the patient liaison have all been respectful and polite. I've not encountered any defensive attitudes. They are not overtly worried about spending time, so you don't feel rushed, which unfortunately has been a running theme in our experience with other dentists in the area. The best Denatal Centre I've found! I've been to numerous Clinics always leaving unsatisfied by something, whether it was the rude reception or the poor care provided. My wife attended the clinic as she needed a full set of dentures. This was to be her second set. The first, made by her previous dentist, were uncomfortable, poorly fitted leaving her with a very restricted diet and a noticeable speech impediment. My wife was only 37 at the time and consequentially lost a huge amount of confidence. Having a terrible set of dentures did nothing to help this. We attended this clinic with low expectations to be honest. However, thanks to this clinic my wife left with what she describes as "the best set of teeth I've ever had, including my natural teeth", & what I can only describe as a genuine feat of engineering! That was a year ago, and since then my wife hasn't had any difficulties, can eat whatever she likes, & smiles like a very healthy Cheshire Cat! Also the service from reception through to hygienists, & dentists alike couldn't have been more helpful. It's just a shame there aren't more dental clinics like this. More...

After a life of bad experiences at many dentists I finally found Edgbaston Dental Centre,
They are so friendly, helpful, and caring, I had a bad experience with a male dentist and for years would only have female ones, I was then asked to give kieran a try and he put me at ease almost instantly, and now hope I never have to change.

Best dentist I've to! Most notably Dr Sodha, he really does go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable during procedures and treats your teeth like his own, so results have been great so far! Professional, friendly, and in spite of other comments I’ve never felt pressured to get ‘unnecessary’ treatments, in fact the opposite, I was told rather than receive a filling (as was the advice of another dentist) that a free fluoride gel would suffice, which saved me a fair amount of money and trauma!

I called up to book an emergency appointment and spoke to a lovely and helpful receptionist called Priya. She was very helpful and polite on the phone and answered all my questions clearly. Unfortunately due to not being registered at the practice I was unable to attend as it was only then available privately (which I completely understand). But I was really pleased with the way I was dealt with and how I could proceed to finding other places who may help me. If I am ever in need of a dentist in Edgbaston I will make sure I register with you and will recommend to friends and family. I attended this dental centre for the first time on recommendation from a friend. I wanted some advice on teeth whitening and also needed some new retainers. I was treated by Dr Kieran Bhakta, who was able to provide me with the best treatment that would suit me and I have to say he was very efficient and helpful with the service he provided. The receptionist was also very helpful when I had to rearrange one of my appointments and did all she could to fit me in. I would definitely recommend this

I recommend this practice to all of my family and friends. The only thing I could say that could do with improving is the waiting times to see the dentist. If I have booked an appointment for a specific time, it would be nice to be seen on time. Sometimes a 30+ minute wait is too long. All staff look after you at each visit which is nice. I called up to book an appointment on behalf of my son as he was in pain, I spoke to a girl, whose name was Preeya if I remember correctly, She was amazing and very through when explaining how it worked to book an appointment, as my son was not a patient he had to be seen as a private patient. She explained the possible outcomes and the prices of each treatment, and what he could do to help with the pain until it was time for his appointment. She didn't rush and get annoyed even though I had a lot of questions. I attended the dentist with my son for moral support and we dealt with her. She gave us our receipt and went through filling out the medical form which was required. She was a very pleasant girl. Whilst waiting for our appointment we seen her deal with a young child, it was nice as she asked all about his experience and what he had learned. He was a very happy boy when leaving! I don't normally write reviews however felt this girl deserved a pat on the back. If we lived in Edgbaston We would definitely come to this practice as the dentist was very good too. I have had the worst amount of pain and never mind the endless amount of money spent on my tooth. After been to my local dentist twice before to try for an extraction with no prevail I had been referred to edgbaston. On arrival I was greeted on the reception desk by a lovely polite young man. Who helped me with all I needed. I seen Dr. Anoup Nandra, who at first meeting put me at ease straight away. I can whole heartedly say I will be recommending the centre to anybody who mentions needing a dentist appt. This is the best experience I have had in a dental centre. And with great rates aswell! I,ve Just completed implant /crown treatment with Dr Nandra and his team . The centre is inviting , beautifully located. the Dr was freindly and chatty he evidently enjoys his work, he's very much on top of the procedures and the nursing staff are reassuring and polite. Thomas the co-ordinater even sent an e-mail saying how good it was to see me on the days I needed to see him. The receptionists were pleasant too . All in all its the Dental service I needed to be at . Im very pleased indeed with the resulting dental work, and would i thoroughly recommend the Edgbaston Dental Centre. Without a doubt the best dentist I have ever been to.

Over the past week I have visited this dentist 3 times and seen three different dentists, all have been really lovely and really great at their job. The rest of the staff are also particularly nice and I left the dentist smiling every time which is definitely not normal for me! My previous experience of dentists have always been pretty negative, feeling like they're charging me a lot of money unnecessarily. At Edgebaston Dental Centre I paid £50 to cover a check up appointment where they took x-rays and booked me an appointment to have my tooth removed at the end of the month, an emergency appointment where they removed my tooth (the pain came back and I couldn't wait) and for the appointment I haven't yet attended where I will have a scale and polish and another check up. I dread to think what the bill for this would have been at my old dentist!

In short I cannot recommend this dentist enough! If I had to move away from Brum I'd still commute if I could :) More...

The short of it: PROs: Staff are kind and welcoming. Accepts NHS. Skilled dentists. CONs : may have to wait. Not as thorough as you might hope. They'll do only what is absolutely necessary and no other trimmings.

The long story: Me and my boyfriend went to Edgbaston DC for long overdue checkups and because I suspected I had impacted wisdom teeth. For us, the price was not an issue because we qualified for NHS charges.
The receptionists were indeed very welcoming and definitely helpful. We had to wait a bit longer, but the receptionist apologised. The dental staff were also chatty and friendly, and you felt at ease with them.
The only thing we both noted (and some other reviewers here had similar experiences) was that, compared to all the other dentists I have had, the dentists here give the impression of taking your concerns about your teeth less seriously than you do. Its not that he was dismissive, but his diagnosis was more on the side of 'you're fine don't worry about it' and 'just take some pain killers' -which is not always very convincing to hear- and prescribed me only a filling and a chipped tooth repair. I entertained the thought that, as an NHS patient, they may not want to do anything more than fillings or what is absolutely necessary on me.
That being said, I gave a 4 star rating because:
1) most likely everything is as he said it is. In fairness, I'm from Canada, where dental treatment is a private expense and relatively pricey and, in all likeliness, this may be the incentive for excessive thoroughness on the part of my previous dentists. And my teeth are in good shape overall.
And 2) the dentist performed the treatment with skill and efficiency. Where the exact same treatment before took me maybe an hour, this dentist multitasked and did everything in under 20 minutes.
In conclusion, the dentists here are perfectly adequate and I doubt any other dentist (who accepts NHS) would have done anything differently. I trust that they would have taken action if it had in fact been necessary for my health. However, do not expect to get over-the-top treatment with all the trimmings. I never looked after my teeth as a child and by early adulthood had fillings in most of my back teeth and was very embarrassed about the state of my teeth for my age. I always felt judged by dentists and had my confidence knocked by being made to feel I wasn't looking after my teeth. Since becoming a patient with Edgbaston DC a few years ago I've always been treated with respect and kindness, I have had to have an extraction a couple of years back and a root canal recently and fillings in between and even though I feel nervous before every visit I always make sure I go to my appointments and keep on top of the care my teeth need because I know I'm going to be looked after and I always feel relieved and good after every appointment! I'm a nervous patient with a ridiculously low pain threshold. I had avoided the dentist for years, until the problems I was experiencing became unbearable. I chose Edgbaston Dental Centre based on a family recommendation and also the fact that I was able to have sedation and receive the treatment I desperately needed. The entire staff at Edgbaston Dental Centre are friendly and attentive, professional and kind. Dr Nandra is clearly a highly regarded dentist who put me at my ease and explained my treatment fully.
