The University of Oxford is a collegiate research university located in Oxford, England.
It has no known date of foundation, but there is evidence of teaching as far back as 1096 .
Oxford has a distinctive collegiate structure. Students and academics benefit from belonging both to the University, a large, internationally-renowned institution, and to a college or hall, a small, interdisciplinary academic community.
The central University is made up of many different sections, including academic and administrative departments, libraries and museums.

Wonderful buildings, steeped in history. The University of Oxford seems much more compact when compared to its contemporary, the University of Cambridge. However, I feel Cambridge is a far nicer town to look around than Oxford. However, many of the buildings here are far more approachable than Cambridge, that walls too much of the colleges off. Beautiful and historical place. Extremely rich in detail and very well organized for tourists to visit.
It is also featured in some scenes from the Harry Potter saga.
Oxford dates super back in history. After some disputes among scholars, some fled and established Cambridge University. The two oldest universities in the kingdom and the wealthiest too.
Tip:
If any of your friends studied there or is an actual teacher, they can get you in for free. Try that!

Very excellent and it is a dream for the students of the world to come here for higher studies and also it is a dream for the teachers to come here to enhance their learning, teaching and educational qualities. The University of Oxford is the 2nd oldest survived University of the world and one of the best universities. It hasn't its perfect date of establishment and probably it was established in the last decade of the eleventh century or early 12th century. Heads of many States and Nobel Laureates have been the products of this University. I'm a govt teacher of English Language from the Jharkhand State of INDIA and I have also instant desire since my student period to visit this world famed University of Oxford, UK. More...

It has no known date of foundation, but there is evidence of teaching as far back as 1096, [1] making it the oldest university in the English-speaking world and the world's second-oldest university in continuous operation .[1][11] It grew rapidly from 1167 when Henry II banned English students from attending the University of Paris.[1] After disputes between students and Oxford townsfolk in 1209, some academics fled north-east to Cambridge where they established what became the University of Cambridge . [12] The two " ancient universities " are frequently jointly referred to as "Oxbridge ".

Oxford is of course home to world-famous Oxford University, as well as Bodleian Library and Oxford Castle. If you’re a Harry Potter fan there are some things to see here, and the city is also the birthplace of Alice in Wonderland, as it’s where Lewis Carroll met the 10-year-old Alice that inspired the story. Punting on the river Cherwell is popular here. More...
