Massage Therapy
I booked a massage appointment had to walk a mile on crutches ... I was a few minutes late and the therapist told me I would now get half an hour for my money instead of an hour. Her arrogant attitude made me walk out and leave . I had already paid in advance but after e mails got a refund from the practice manager. They only have one female therapist, and I certainly would NOT recommend her to ANYONE. More...

Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession concerned with the assessment, maintenance, and restoration of the physical function and performance of the body. It is a distinct form of care which can be performed either in isolation or in conjunction with other types of medical management. Used in conjunction with certain medical or surgical techniques, physiotherapy can complement these techniques to help provide a speedy and complication-free return to normal activity.
Neurological Physiotherapy
Neurological Physiotherapy is specialised physiotherapy to treat people who have suffered damage to the central nervous system caused by Neurological Conditions such as:
• Stroke
• Multiple Sclerosis
• Parkinson’s
• Motor Neurone Disease
• Head Injury
• Spinal Cord Injury
• Cerebral Palsy
• Other Neurological conditions
Damage to your central nervous system, including your brain and your spinal cord, means that the messages from your brain are not reaching the affected parts of your body.
This can result in loss of movement and sensation, uncoordinated movement, weak and floppy muscles, spasm and tremor.
Osteopathy
What is Osteopathy: Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.
Osteopaths Treat: Osteopaths’ patients include the young, older people, manual workers, office professionals, pregnant women, children and sports people. Patients seek treatment for a wide variety of conditions, including back pain, changes to posture in pregnancy, postural problems caused by driving or work strain, the pain of arthritis and minor sports injuries.
Sports Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a popular
treatment for:
Increased muscle tension/ tone.
Palpable abnormal thickening of connective tissue.
Trigger points within muscles which can refer pain and inhibit local muscle contraction.
Massage increases blood flow to the targeted areas enhancing the removal of waste substances and can increase the healing of damaged tissue. After an injury scar tissue is formed, which is less pliable than undamaged muscle fibres. Massage can optimize muscle function and allow greater range and freedom of movement.
Stone Massage Therapy
The hot volcanic stones and cold marine stones can be used in conjunction or individually to stimulate the body’s healing responses.
The heat of the stones are able to penetrate to a depth of 4cm inside the body. This treatment includes a personalised aromatherapy blend.
The blend is comprised of essential oils and base oils depending on the desired outcome from the treatment or the present needs of the body.
Today we all live in a fast-paced, stressful world. Long hours spent in front of the computer or travelling only aid the tension in our lives. Stone therapy can be used as a tool to counteract this stress and tension.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a healing art of ancient origin. It is believed to have been used by the Chinese, Egyptians and Ancient Greeks but the theory and practice we know today was developed in America in the early 1900’s.
Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body. Reflexologists work holistically with their clients and aim to work alongside allopathic healthcare to promote better health for their clients.
Indian Head Massage
The aim of Indian head massage is to release the stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face neck and shoulders.
It promotes total relaxation and creates a feeling of contentment & happiness.
It is particularly good for:- Stress relief, anxiety, mental tension & fatigue, improving alertness & concentration, suppleness and flexibility to neck & shoulders, blood circulation to upper body, removing toxins from upper body and hair health.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is an advanced
therapy in which the practitioner uses a range of specialised and gentle rhythmic pumping techniques to move the skin in the direction of the lymph flow.
This stimulates the lymphatic vessels which carry substances vital to the defence of the body and removes waste products. The first visit will include a consultation during which the therapist will recommend the number and frequency of future sessions.
Podiatry/Chiropody
Podiatry (also known as chiropody) is the diagnosis and treatment by podiatrists (chiropodists) of diseases and other disorders of the feet. Podiatrists are highly skilled health professionals who have been trained to prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs. They also prevent and correct deformity, keep people mobile and active, relieve pain and treat infections.
The aim of our podiatrists at DDB Physiotherapy Clinic is to improve the independence, mobility and general quality of life of our patients.
A podiatrist can treat on a whole host of foot and foot related conditions
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy massage is particularly suited to conditions involving stress or improving emotionally-related conditions.
Stress and stress-related conditions such as
Insomnia
Headache
Digestive disorders
Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
Back pain
Here is a few examples of the research that is being done on aromatherapy massage:
Self-massage significantly improved symptoms and wellbeing in people with lymphedema. It also slightly, but not significantly reduced limb volume. However, carefully chosen aromatherapy oils did not appear to be more effective than massage without aromatherapy oils.
Sixteen first-time mothers received a 30-minute aromatherapy massage two days after delivery, while 20 mothers received standard post-partum care. The aromatherapy massage group had significantly decreased ratings of post-partum blues and anxiety and had increased vigor and attachment to their babies.
Research suggests that patients with cancer, particularly in the palliative care setting, are increasingly using aromatherapy and massage
Women's Health Physiotherapy
Women’s health physiotherapy can have a number of positive outcomes and for some it can be life-changing. It can help women to:
reduce pain
restore and/or improve function
be more active and exercise with confidence
remain dry on coughing or sneezing
hold on instead of having to rush to the toilet
cut down the frequency of visits to the toilet
manage prolapse symptoms and reduce any feelings of discomfort
improve the quality of their lives
