The Unit 17 is a family run business with lots of experience in customer service, we are able to operate and cover the costs by repurposing your loved ones items that would normally go to landfill and selling them on so they have a new life, making us one of the UK’s most environmentally friendly services.

What do you love most about your job?
Meeting new people and being able to provide a service with a friendly smile in the hardest of circumstances.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After being made redundant we decided to create a community hub in Lower Darwen offering the residents the chance to see their goods resold as opposed to being tipped. We also created a meeting place before starting the auctions which has had some fantastic feedback.
The business is a sustainable and environmentally friendly resource and reduces landfill and re circulates unwanted items.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
When covid -19 was rife, we made sure to abide by all strict regulations wearing masks and social distancing, sanitising on a regular basis.

We are very passionate about helping our clients to the best of our ability and our aim is to provide a professional and seamless service without the stress and anxiety caused by events out of the client’s control, such events can be and are taken advantage of by some disposal businesses that are out to make a quick buck, that is why we offer our services free of charge.

The Unit 17 works very closely with a waste disposal expert with over 30 years of experience, with all the right permits and certificates (available on request), we can make sure that the items being disposed of go to the right places and are not fly tipped.
