How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
It will depend on what the garage /conversation is going to be used for . I would recommend a brick garage rather than a concrete slab. If the garage is old then may have a asbestos corrugated roof that would need removing .

Running water/plumbing and electric would be first port of call. Then a solid foundation
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
The height and pitch of the roof , then the structure .
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
The scaffold will go up first.
Strip the tiles from the area required.
Support the roof structure that is being left(if any).
Cut and remove roof structure where the dormer shell is being placed
Knock out pockets for the floor
Steels fitted to padstones/spreader plates
Fit floor steals
Run floor joist but leaving room for staircase
Fit the ridge steel and any colums
Form dormer walls allowing for any widow units or balcony openings
Run the ceiling joists
Clad dormer
Break through to the landing and fit staircase
Remove tiles from front pitch and cut in Velux window openings. Fit and weather around the openings
Form internal stud walls and Door openings
Have any electrical wiring and plumbing installed
Insulate dormer walls and pitch roof with Celotex and stud walls with Rockwall
Plaster board and cut any fitting holes ready for plastering
Plaster all walls
Fit any door, architrave and skirting
Decorate / prime any wood
Install any fittings ie spot light, sockets ect
install bathroom (if there is one)
Tile and weather dormer (this can be done while all inside work is being done)

Working for yourself is a lot more for filling. After working for other companies for so many years it was time for me to start my own future
