In a summary, you can buy a new computer anywhere in the triangle area, but if you need to repair it, the only place I suggest you is The Computer Cellar. I rarely left a review for a service before. But this time, I must write a review for The Computer Cellar. Last night, my Macbook pro suddenly got black on the screen and could show anything. It is really a nightmare when you work on it everyday. Before I went there, I had an appointment with Apple's official repair center this morning. They asked much money for diagnostic and cannot repair it today. That's really unreasonable. I also went to other computer repair center, they just said I need to change the screen without careful checking and diagnostics.When I arrived at The Computer Cellar, Simon gave me a warm welcome and then Gabriel carefully checked my Macbook. He is really professional and within 10 minutes, he found the problem, which is a small problem and I don't need to replace my screen, which costs huge. Finally Gabriel repaired it well within another 10 minutes and returned me a well-working Macbook. They really makes me happy for the rest of the day since I can use it now and save much money. Trust me, they are all professional and will carefully check the problem of your computer and will give you the most reasonable price in the whole triangle area. Cannot say enough good things. I needed a laptop screen repair/replacement and naively called two other computer repair companies (one said it would be a week before they could take a look and diagnose it, the other was non responsive). Found The Computer Cellar on a recommendation from a local parents group. When I called The Computer Cellar, I was given a friendly greeting, and was told to bring it in anytime as they don’t require appointments and could take a look that day. Quick. Respectful. Honest.A great resource for all-purpose help for hardware/software issues before consulting specialized professionals. The Computer Cellar is a great starting point for any issues that may initially arise with your software or hardware. When you come in, you are quickly greeted by the staff who try their best to get to you as soon as they can. If you're unsure of what the problem is, the staff works hard to quickly diagnose the issue and offer possible solutions. What's arguably the best part about this is that they are completely candid when it comes to their ability to perform a job. I recently brought in a corrupted hard drive that needed recovery and after a few diagnostics, they were honest in that the likelihood of the issue being resolved in-house would be quite low, but were quick to offer next-best steps, specialty center information and discount, and further proactive measures to prevent any potential issues in the future with my hardware. I reached out to them both on the phone and in person and was met with the same high quality of service and respect. Great place of business! Courteous staff who will give you honest advice and recommendations instead of trying to get over on you just because you don't know much about computers. They have educated me on how to make my macbook pro best for DJing and after a couple upgrades I have no issues.. Upgraded me from 4GB of ram to 16GB and went from 500GB sata hard drive to a 2TB SSD all for a very reasonable price! Needless to say very happy with their work! More...

I have some good things to say about this place. Came in with a damaged hinge on my laptop screen. After they fixed it the laptop wouldn't start. I received a personalized response and price quote for labor to replace the malfunctioning keyboard on my Thinkpad X1 Carbon laptop within about 15 minutes on a Sunday evening via the Yelp website. The shop staff was knowledgeable and had my laptop repaired within 1 business day. The price for the labor was very reasonable, especially with how intricate the repair is on this model of laptop, and they allowed me to supply my own replacement part I had found on Ebay. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the customer service I received, the speed of the repair and communication from staff, and the quality of the labor, as well happy to support a local business. As a note: I had to disable Avast on both my ancient but functional laptop while downloading the update to USB AND on my "broken" computer that needed the fix. Excellent service. Gabriel was very helpful and patient in coaxing my white knuckling of windows XP and showing me how I  can do much of the same things with my new windows 10 laptop. (Trust me that's a gift I'm old and I like XP). He went the second mile by helping me download from online software at safe legit sites. I highly recommend them. Nice relaxing clean atmosphere. Went to computer cellar for a laptop HD upgrade. The technician suggested cloning the drive which would be less expensive. Got a call to pick up the computer the same day (super fast service!). Unfortunately, the laptop would not boot up for an unknown reason. They took it back to reformat the HD and 3 hours later, it was done. No extra charge, which I truly appreciated. My desktop made a loud ""POP" with a lot of smoke coming out of it. Took it to the Cellar. The CC was recommended to me by a friend who owns a successful, local IT Co.  They were extremely helpful to me when I brought my 4. 5 yr. old Dell OptiPlex 9010 PC to them to restore & recover my hard drive.  They (1) managed to recover a majority of my priority-content in just a couple of days, (2) installed an alternative email program for no charge, (3) educated me a variety of topics ... all for an almost absurdly low cost.  They have also been very helpful to me with minor telephone consults (Pam)--at no charge--saving me the trouble of coming or bringing my equipment in for no good reason.I'm in the process of deliberating with them again re: a home-visit for setting-up and fine-tuning a revised home network with new computers and possibly a router-modem.  So far, they've been very inviting, accommodating & helpful; and I hope I can post another review after the aforementioned big job they may end up doing for me. My new go-to computer repair shop! We had an emergency with a hard drive, so we called the folks at The Computer Cellar who let us know that they could give us a prognosis same day but were sure to warn us it could take a couple of days to fix it. When I arrived they were able to fix it on the spot! They were friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful! I have nothing but praise for The Computer Cellar, and more specifically the owner Daryn.My husband recently had to move his dental practice to a new location. This was a huuuuuge project. The new space had to be wired for networked computers in each exam room and office, each exam room had to have new monitors attached to arms coming down out of the ceiling, the digital panoramic x-ray machine had to have special wiring, we needed a new control center where everything hooked into the office server, etc, etc, etc ... and Daryn handled it all.He came to the office early, he stayed late, he went above and beyond to make sure everything was done properly and in a timely manner. He got us signed up for an e-fax service (no more junk faxes wasting my ink and paper!) and helped us in our unnecessarily long and convoluted quest to cut ties with Frontier and get our phone / internet / cable tv through TWC ... and keep our old phone numbers!Daryn handled it all beautifully with a lot of know-how and humor. I found The Computer Cellar via a quick google search after a Macbook disaster struck on a business trip to Durham. I called and explained the issue and they told me to bring the dead computer in for a look. The issue was diagnosed and the end result was not good but, between Gabriel and Daryl they came up with a workable solution for me and sent me on my way with a working machine, and I was able to do my job for the rest of my trip. I felt these guys and their other staffers really went above and beyond to help me solve the immediate issue. Since I was in a very precarious position they could have gouged my wallet but came up with a price that was more than fair and a suggestion for when I got home to recover the rest of my data. I've been a customer of computer service businesses in 3 states both in business and for personal use. These folks are by far the best I've ever had the pleasure to know. They were awesome! I brought in two iMac computers that had both decided they didn't want to get along with me anymore and kept shutting down ; {. I truly thought that I was going to have to bury them and invest in a laptop sooner than I was able.....but they saved the day! Pam, Daryn and Gabriel were great!
