Experienced, supportive and enthusiastic tutor.

After many years of teaching in primary schools, I have extended my skill set with a TEFL qualification and in addition to tutoring 7-11 year olds, I now teach English as a foreign language. I have experience of editing university dissertations and supporting academic writing. I am able to teach French at KS2, KS3 and GCSE.

I still get excited about inspiring children and adults to learn and believe that self esteem and confidence play a vital part in our learning. I aim to find out what makes an individual tick and to identify any gaps in their learning. I have a particular passion for all aspects of English and use a wealth of strategies and resources to determine how each student best learns and to support them to make progress.

For infant and junior pupils, I work in partnership with parents and tailor sessions to match the child’s needs. I am able to work on developing independent thinking and learning and/or reinforce curriculum content. From fun and creative engagement to more formal assessment practice and homework.

I have worked extensively as a freelance, educational consultant producing KS1 and KS2 teaching resources for the BBC.
