About

Clients come to me because they want help with handling anxiety, to recover from depression, to process trauma and loss or to find a sense of direction in life. I provide counselling and psychotherapy for individuals, working online, by phone and in person (socially distanced).

Q&As

That light bulb moment when a client suddenly 'gets' something about themselves or their situation and they can move forwards. Or a little bit of confidence comes from somewhere, a tiny bit extra self-esteem - it's amazing to be part of that.

I love supporting clients, particularly the ones the medical system finds difficult to help. Quite often what clients need can't be found on the NHS, and waiting lists for specialist charities can be really long.

Because I'll judge you much less than you probably judge yourself, I won't boss you about and I am quite honest about what I see and experience during our work together, so you can trust me to not mislead you. I am experienced in providing a safe place if you want to explore really difficult things, particularly traumatic events and how these affect you.

Services

Sometimes you need a 'sounding board' to be able to work your problems out. I can listen empathically, putting myself in your shoes to try and understand what's going on and help you find ways to handle it.

Or just 'therapy'! This is more in-depth work where I help you look at longer-term issues - how you relate to other people and react to situations, and why. This can help you see patterns and work out new ways of dealing with things that are bothering you

This is a way of listening to yourself a bit more - drawing on 'instinct' or 'gut reactions' for example by inviting the right side of your brain to send you new insights. It can be really useful if you feel 'stuck' and is easier to do (with a little guidance) than explain!
