In this session we will simply explore yourself and your background. We will discuss your reasons for seeking counselling and your goals moving forwards. It is an informal chat to just get to know each other and start building a professional relationship.

In these sessions we will explore CBT techniques to help address maladaptive thoughts and behaviours that you may be experiencing. It is designed to provide you with a safe space to talk and open up while leaving you with appropriate management techniques.

Individual's usually require 8-12 sessions as things cannot be healed overnight, however, it is also completely normal to not need the full 8-12, and to also need more than 12 and therefore, the treatment plan will be continuously updated and discussed throughout sessions to make sure that you are getting the most out of them and that you are making progress.

I will often provide resources that can be sent via email that may include workbooks, flashcards, and coping techniques however, for sessions to work fully, you must be committed to engaging fully in these sessions, inclusive of these extra resources.

In children's counselling, we will explore a range of thoughts and behaviours that may be challenging and distressing to both the child and those around them. worksheets and flashcards will often be provided and it is strongly encouraged that they keep up with them as they will often lead into our next sessions.

No issue is too big or too small and we will work together to tailor the sessions so that they are more effective and so that a strong professional relationship is built where they feel safe and comfortable to communicate.

Often, families experience communication breakdowns and it is often as a result of individual's not feeling understood. Family counselling provides a safe space for everyone to be given an equally valued voice, whereby they can share their thoughts and feelings.

It can be useful for providing strategies for the family to rebuild their relationship and guide them in strengthening it. Often, there can be an unintentional divide between parents/carers and their children so this service provides an environment for all to be equal and work together.

We will work on strengthening your relationship by exploring the rooted issues and experiences within your relationship. There is absolutely no shame in needing some extra guidance in a relationship and is actually a sign that you are committed to one another, and that commitment may be everything that is needed to strengthen your relationship.

We will work on techniques of communication and discuss how you can spend time together doing things that make you both happy, while also understanding that in some instances, you may need to compromise and do things that each other may like that you do not.

We can guide sessions to you both and what is currently presenting an issue within your relationship or discuss previous things that have affected your relationship. There may also be instances where we discuss your future and how maybe your ideas of the future differ.

It is completely non judgemental and confidential and so a completely safe space for you to both communicate freely.
