I attended my first CTS coffee morning this week and it was so nice being in a space where I felt comfortable enough to share. The morning was led by Tracy and she did it in such a way that it felt really relaxed, it felt like we, as parents, could talk and be heard rather than just being talked at. I felt we were able to be quite open with each other about our experiences and also able to ask questions without being judged. It was refreshing to be in a group with a professional leading the discussion but not making you feel like they are the professional/expert and you are not, I felt everyone was taken at face value and any contribution made to the group was valid, including myself/my own. I really enjoyed it and came away feeling so much more positive. I’ll definitely be attending more coffee mornings and events. More...

I went to a demand avoidance workshop on the 9th which was so informative whilst being relaxed. The team were brilliant, questions answered fantastically and there wasn't a stupid question. Also there was no judgement at all. It was great knowing that I'm not a crazy person these struggles not only are real but can be combated and tools and stragies were provided. I'd recommend to anyone who needs more information, support or questions being answered as these things are hard to find. As an asd and adhd mummy we all know we have to advocate for our children more than most I will be booking family members onto the next one so we can all be on the same page. More...

I attended the Practitioner Workshop: Positive Well being in Young Children on Friday evening. It was a really informative and enjoyable 2 hours of information and training. It related very well to the young age group that I teach at nursery and we are hoping to implement some of the ideas into our daily practise such as yoga for nursery age children. It was thought provoking and really made me think more deeply about how we can help children, from a young age, learn to manage their own emotional well-being. I attended the Demand Avoidance course last night. It was an excellent workshop and I learnt so much. Tracy is an excellent presenter, who is obviously very knowledgable and experienced, and I felt very at ease to ask any questions I had. It was really reassuring to hear the experiences of other parents. I came away better informed and with lots of techniques to try, plus an excellent set of resources to use. Thank you very much Tracy. More...

I attended a Managing Demand Avoidance workshop and was anxious about attending. I soon realised that I had no need to feel worried as it was such a warm, welcoming environment and led by Tracy who had personal and professional experience of the subject. I am glad I went, relieved I’m not imagining the issues and not feeling as alone as I did, having heard everyone’s experiences. I wish there’d been more time at the workshop! More...

ADVOCACY + SUPPORT

We actively promote and support the emotional well-being of children unable to understand, communicate, or regulate their emotional overwhelm.

Our advocacy role involves a range of activities, including:

Monthly Coffee Mornings: Providing emotional support and guidance to families of children that struggle to understand, communicate, or regulate their emotional overwhelm.

Advocating for the rights and needs of individuals with mental health conditions and raising awareness about mental health issues. We achieve this through our collaboration work with local schools and national organisations include the PDA Society.

Live and On-demand Workshops: Educating individuals and groups about emotional health, stress management, and self-care practices for individuals unable to understand, communicate, or regulate their emotional overwhelm.

Therapeutic Group Work: Supporting families and professionals at risk of burn-out, due to supporting emotionally dysregulated children.

Outreach Services: Collaborating with families, healthcare providers, and educator to develop and implement effective strategies for promoting emotional well-being that impact on a child’s ability to access a full-time education.

AWARENESS + EDUCATION

We raise awareness of children struggling to understand, communicate, and regulate their emotional overwhelm through:

Knowledge: Education is crucial to raise awareness of emotional ill-health for those unable to communicate their needs. We achieve this through our on-demand resources, vlogs, coffee mornings with guest speakers, on-demand training, and live workshops.

Social Media: We actively raise awareness through our social media campaigns, sharing personal stories and experiences.

Events: We organise monthly events including coffee mornings, talks, and workshops to raise awareness of emotional dysregulation in children. This is where we invite mental health professionals, individuals with lived experience, and community leaders to speak. The goal with all our events is empowerment. Sharing the power of knowledge with families, professionals, and schools.

Collaboration: We work with families, professionals, and schools on collaboration projects that help emotionally dysregulated children access a full-time education. These include our tactile defensiveness project in 2022 and our work with Whitehall Academy School for disadvantaged children.

Services are held remotely via Zoom and in-person in Eastbourne.
