Cherrylofts did an excellent job with our loft conversion project located in reading. Dean and Ben, our main carpenters and the rest or the team, was professional, skilled, and completed the work in a timely manner. The finish is perfect in terms of functionality quality and design. While the overall experience was positive, there were a few minor issues along the way that required attention. However, the team was responsive and resolved these issues promptly. Overall, we're very satisfied with the outcome and would recommend Cherrylofts to others seeking a reliable loft conversion service.

Cherry Lofts are incredibly professional. They delivered on every level throughout the project.
They offered great advice, quality workmanship, and unbeatable timescales, as well as excellent value for money compared with other quotes.
We love our new loft conversion, and would urge anyone thinking of having work done to use Cherry Lofts.
I would also like to highlight that they are friendly, curtiuos, focused on customer requirements. And their housekeeping always impressed us.
100% great service.

Loft Conversions

Against my daughter's advice I chose CherryLofts to undertake my loft conversion. As a brand new company she considered it a risk but based on the first visit to survey the project I was convinced that Dean and Richard had the necessary expertise and experience to undertake the job. On receiving a detailed plan of the loft, including placing the stairs in a position I hadn't considered, l was more than happy to sign a contract.
So has my decision been vindicated? Absolutely. It has been a pleasure to have Richard and Dean, together with the plumber Nick, the electrician and plasterer around and all have completed their work to the highest standard. In particular Richard's attention to the finishing touches has been outstanding, clearly a perfectionist. And the stairs? I can't believe how discreet they are and how little they have taken off the living room.
I have no hesitation in recommending CherryLofts and leaving an entirely justifiable 5 Star review.

Q&As

The homeowner will need to measure the height from the plasterboard ceiling to the top of the ridge/apex if this measurement is a minimum of 2m 350mm your loft can be converted.

First contact
1.
Once you’ve had cherry lofts quote you can decide whether to pick them for the work. Once you have done this, a date can be agreed to start, and an architect will draw up plans and you can give your approval for these plans. When all the planning approvals are completed the scaffolding can be erected around your building (sometimes several days before the work is due to begin.

All materials will be delivered to the site and are usually loaded onto the scaffolding, an inspector will clear the site for the work to proceed at this point.

Work begins
2.
A hole is usually cut into the roof to start work, this is a temporary access point that allows work to begin without having to disturb the rest of the household. A conventional stairway will be put in place further down the line. Then, to ensure the roof and the floor are held up, steel beams will be inserted. This is also important for any major structural changes which could be made – such as a dormer conversion.

Joists installed
3.
To create the new, stable floor, timber joists will be put into place. Once the floor is constructed an electrician and a plumber will conceal any large pipework or electrical work. An inspector should visit again at this point and sign off on the beams and joists which have been put into place.

Roof structure
4.
When approval is given, alterations to the roof structure can be made, including the installation of any dormer or Velux window as well as any gables.

Interior walls
5.
The walls inside of the conversion can now be built, creating the dimensions of the room. Tilers will also be brought in to carry out weatherproofing of the roof on the outside, while a plumber and electrician will be in again to fit any additional wires, pipes, radiators, and sockets.

Insulation installed
6.
At this point, insulation will need to be put into place. This will be done according to approved standards and an inspector will need to check the material was used as well as other aspects of the build. Plasterboarding can then be installed, a stairwell can be created for stairs to be fitted.

Finishing touches
7.
Once the loft is plastered and has dried the little details can be taken care of – doors, handles, light switches, handrails, and skirting boards can all be fitted. The conversion will then need to be signed off by the local authority building control officer, after this, you can decorate and style the conversion as you please.
