It can be daunting approaching someone for help. You may worry that your problem isn't bad enough, that you're wasting my time or that I'll be shocked by and judgmental about what you may disclose. These are quite normal worries. Most people, once they have asked for help or disclosed something they felt they never could, generally wish they had done it much sooner.

The most important part of the therapy is often the relationship between therapist and client and it is important that you feel comfortable and trust your instincts when choosing someone to talk to. I offer the core conditions in counseling, meaning I will provide a safe, confidential place to explore your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental and excepting environment.

We will have an initial assessment session of 50 minutes, in which we can explore whether what I offer is appropriate for you or your child and we can decide whether we feel we can work together or not.

If I feel what I offer isn't right for you, or you feel I am not the right person for you, I may be able to refer you on to a more appropriate agency.

In the initial session I will take down some information such as what is currently troubling you, contact details, some personal history, your expectations and hopes for coming and I will explain confidentiality. I'll also give you the opportunity to ask me any questions.

The following sessions will also be for 50 minutes, preferably on the same day and at the same time each week.

The ending of therapy is very important and we would need to allow several sessions to round off the work
