Cardiff Acupuncture Clinic

I have suffered from migraines for a number of years. I tended to get around two or three each month and they would last anywhere between 12 hours and two days. I have tried several over the counter medication (paracetamol, aspirin etc.) without success. My GP initially prescribed Co-codamol which also proved unsuccessful. I also booked a course of treatment with a chiropractor. Once again, no success.More GP appointments resulted in a prescription of Sumatriptan tablets. These were mostly successful and were usually quick acting. The only problem was the zombie-like feeling they induced that would keep me bed ridden for several hours, sometimes until the following day.Out of desperation I contacted Cardiff Acupuncture Clinic and booked a consultation. Emma asked lots of questions before beginning treatment, which was in stark contrast to my GP appointments. I wasn't sure what to expect but Emma's calm manner put me at ease. A short while after the first session, instead of getting a full on migraine (pounding head, vomiting and nausea) I experienced only nausea. This subsided gradually over the weeks to the point where it completely vanished.I have now had around seven or so sessions with Emma over several months and have not had a single migraine since starting treatment.Emma has cured a long standing condition that I thought would be with me for the rest of my days and for that I am truly thankful. I came to see Emma because I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and several malabsorption issues. Before knowing her I was able to manage my Crohn's with diet and exercise but I was bloated all the time and my energy levels were very low. After a course of treatment, I began to eat things I thought I never would again, now my diet is much richer which I'm pleased with. I have more energy and am a lot less bloated. I have also seen an improvement in my menstrual cycle and feel acupuncture has helped regulate this too.Emma is a great professional and goes through things in detail to chose the best treatment each time. one day I woke up with a very strong bad pain in my back. I was not able to sit or to stand. My legs were not able to support me too. Any effort was extremely difficult. I was so scared because there was no apparent reason that I suffered such like this (no effort, no wrong movement, and not lift of heavy weight). I contacted Emma by e-mail and quickly she gave me an appointment. What I really liked during the first appointement is that Emma took time to understand my problems. I had the feeling that she was really caring about me and that she was trying to found out the source of my problems. She found out that I was suffering from insomnia,blood circulation and kidney problems, sciatica and big pain in my heels. Before each session she always asked me about my feeling and my state. I came to Emma struggling to get through my day, permanently cold with daily headaches and an array of other symptoms. Constantly wanting to crawl into a corner and fall asleep, I could easily spend an hour or more in bed with my eyes open. I felt a wreck. After seeing Emma only for a couple of times I slept like a baby, stopped wanting naps in the afternoon and felt that I could face the world in the morning. My headaches are gone now. In just a short space of time Emma has helped me greatly through acupuncture. Initially I had severe neck and shoulder problems which was affecting me in all aspects of my life, I had tried osteopathy and other treatments but the problem stuck with me for years. I felt immediately better after just my first treatment and after a short period of treatments the problem had pretty much vanished.Since then I have developed sciatica, so I returned to Emma and she has made a huge difference. I am now able to control the pain a lot more thanks to regular acupuncture. Emma is a very caring practitioner. I have severe pain in my knees from osteoarthritis for which I am currently awaiting knee replacement surgery. Emma has worked hard to improve my quality of life. Although acupuncture has not stopped the pain it has reduced the pain caused by the inflammation around the knee area. This enables me to get around much better between treatments. I came to see Emma because I was diagnosed with tendonitis in the right arm following an intensive period of work at the computer. After a short course of acupuncture treatment the pain in the arm and tension in the shoulder almost completely cleared up and then with further top up sessions the condition went. I had been feeling really anxious because I was concerned that it wouldn't improve and would linger for months but thankfully Emma was able to help significantly.
