A few weeks ago we ordered a 5 tier cake for our sons wedding. Organising a wedding can be a stressful time but thankfully Rose took one big stress off our hands and made the most stunning cake for us. Rose made us an absolutely stunning 3 tier semi-naked cake for our wedding on Saturday! Not only did it taste incredible but it really was gorgeous! ! Everyone commented on how great it looked! Sussex cakes made a bespoke cake for our son's 18th Birthday and it absolutely surpassed all our expectations. Every little detail was as we had asked which was incredible when all put together. My son's delight when he saw the cake will be a lasting memory of his 18th Birthday celebration. Rose too was a delight to deal with, nothing too much trouble and came up with great ideas too. We stumbled across Cakes Sussex one afternoon whilst visiting Battle, we noticed they produced wedding cakes and so dropped in for a tea and chat with Rose to see if we got 'the feeling' as to whether she was the lady to produce our wedding cake. Rose immediately made us feel at home and at ease, showing us her portfolio of past cakes, offering us lots of sample cake to try her range of sponges and speaking with us about her skills it was obvious she was more than capable of producing the cake that we had set our heart on. I would also like to point out the time and effort that Rose spent with us, not just talking cakes but finding out about us as a couple, how we met and about the other aspects of the wedding. Jackie found her dream cake whilst collecting idea's from the internet, we supplied Rose with the image of what we were looking for. For anyone considering Cakes Sussex, we can wholeheartedly say that Rose produced us the most beautiful cake that matched the dream we had asked for, the sponges were beautiful and light and not dry, the icing was just perfect, it lived up to every expectation. We would highly recommend Rose at Cakes Sussex to anyone looking for a professional to bring their wedding cake dream to a reality, from our initial consultation, to all of the communication on the lead up to the big day and then on the big day itself, Rose was professional, intricate in her work and communication, very friendly and kind and delivered us our dream wedding cake. I’ve had several celebration cakes from “Cakes Sussex” in Battle High Street, and on each and every occasion they have provided enormous WOW factor. A wonderful center piece to any party or event. Each cake is made bespoke and hand finished by the lovely owner Rose. Her genuine passion and excitement for cakes and all things sugar comes across during an initial informal consultation where her talent really shines through. She listens to your thoughts and ideas and then builds on them. You can almost hear her mind ticking way in front of you. The end result is always stunning and delicious, and the cakes themselves are all home baked from scratch. From elegant fine traditional to contemporary looks she can also create wonderfully unique and crazy cakes. In my case an enormous pair of Wimpy hamburgers with fry’s, salad, ketchup, and even branded napkins! I have also seen a life size 3D motorbike and a classic old fashioned steam train with all its carriages. About eight feet long! The cakes and bread from this bakery are also delicious and not to be missed. A proper baker which is a rare and beautiful thing these days.
