This is not a review, it is a view! My personal view on reviews for therapists based upon ten years of experience is that very few people want to tell the world that they have needed to resort to therapy to cope with life. I first contacted Nigel early this year as I was suffering anxiety and depresssion following a number of 'set backs' in my life that completely turned it upside down. What do you love most about your job?
I get the greatest pleasure from hearing from past clients who tell me how well they are continuing to progress and thanking me for my help and contribution to their success. I love seeing moments of amazement as clients realise that they have managed to find relief from something that has been troubling them sometimes for even a lifetime. I love it when my clients tell me that they have come to regard me as a wise and trusted friend rather than a clinical therapist. I love it when clients who have seen several other therapists turn to me in the hopes of a miracle and then learn that they hold the power themselves to make the necessary changes and I just guide and reassure them. I love being in the privileged position of helping others to change their lives!
What inspired you to start your own business?
Whilst a serving Community Police Sergeant I created a programme designed to change the lives of vulnerable young adults. Seeing the success of psychology upon the behaviour and attitudes of angry young people I became inspired to pursue a degree in Social and Behavioural Studies whilst in my 50's and still a fulltime Police Officer. For the last seven years in the Police I became a trainer, coach and coach supervisor to newly appointed Police officers where I had to guide them through the arduous two year journey to becoming fully qualified constables.
I then qualified as a teacher and upon my retirement set up C-options initially training teenagers in emotional management skills. My next adventure was to train as a clinical hypnotherapist/psychotherapist with the well established Innervisions hypnotherapy school and I spent several years perfecting my hypnotherapy techniques. During this time I qualified as 2nd degree Reiki spiritual healer and Emotional Freedom Technique practitioner. I now mix coaching several therapies and bio-feedback to provide integrated therapy at a price people can afford,
