We stayed in a Windemere suite for our anniversary. Fantastic room, clean and a great view! The meal included was excellent and great choice. Plentiful breakfast options also. Spa is good, could just do with some shower gels etc to use in the spa showers and maybe so private shower cubicles, not sure why the button for the spa bubbles is on the wall away from the spa? We used the pub on site also which was lovely. Obvious that the staff are putting effort in, the concierge was a happy chap and always acknowledged you on entering and leaving so a special thanks to him!||A nice easy walk to the lake and village.||Overall a great stay and would recommend More...

This hotel promised to be what we wanted, luxury comfort and relaxation. ||||Our room was a suite with a hot tub on a covered terrace. The room was very spacious and the bed was so comfortable with plenty of pillows. The bathroom also had a bath with over shower. Great detail in the decor and simple touches loved this room the hotel was excellent the bar area was a perfect setting for drinks with a view of the lake. The Spa was an important part of our trip I booked facials and massage before we arrived, the pool and spa facilities are beautiful, however the changing facilities a small communal shower area and 1toilet. You are taken up to a mezzanine floor over the pool for your treatments, the area is what to expect beautiful decor, the room was exposed to noise from the pool, and the bed for your treatment does heat up I felt cold and did not enjoy experience. This is an issue for the Spa and the staff could not apologise enough. It’s been identified as an issue and it appear the hotel does not address this. The staff at this hotel go above and beyond to provide great service and this was very much appreciated. A Spa is for relaxation and should not be offered as a tranquil and time to recharge! If the Pool is open to everyone who visits the hotel. More...

We stayed here for 2 nights in mid-November to celebrate a birthday. Despite booking one of their more basic rooms, we were given a lovely room with a gorgeous view - overlooking hundreds of pine trees and part of the lake. The lounge area also has beautiful views and comfy chairs to relax in - we particularly enjoyed sitting by the real log fire, feeding it logs etc. The spa is ace - there is a bar that you can access directly from the spa and it is all very relaxed with multiple bubble pools/jacuzzis. ||There are also some very nice walks from the hotel up to nearby viewing points (post Knott & biskey Howe) and beyond - there was a small map in our room which we used to follow this route into town & I think you can also get maps from tourist information in town. Walking boots or trainers advised to get up to post Knott. Both viewing points gave lovely views & the feeling that you had left the town behind. You can follow a route from the hotel up to the 2 viewing points then down into town which took around an hour - 1.5hours (didn’t time it!). It was a lovely walk & definitely recommended. Otherwise, the hotel is an easy 5minute walk into town along the main road. It is convenient but also nicely set back from the centre. ||The staff at burnside were all lovely & there were lots of little touches which made the stay special. Very much enjoyed our time at Burnside & hope to be back again soon! More...

|My husband and I recently spent a night at Burnside hotel and spa, in the penthouse suite.|The place itself is set in a lovely town. There are lots of pubs and restaurants all within walking distance, and obv the lake itself.|There are some great views of the lake from one of the bars and also our room.|The room itself wasn’t worth the money we paid. Yes the room was lovely, and spacious but some of the furniture was very dated. For the going room rate, we would have liked tea/coffee making facilities. It did state in the room manual that they were in the room, but we failed to find them! Just a few packs of filter coffee. Also maybe a mini bar?|The view was lovely and the jacuzzi outside on the balcony was very nice.|The breakfast was good, buffet style, with hot and cold foods. room service, which we ordered was very tasty. I do think £5 charge to bring it to you room is rather steep, considering we had no drinks facilities and had to pay to order them to our room!|The bar that leads through to the spa area was lovely and cosy, with a log burner going. Very small area though. The pool is rather small, but is still nice, with Jacuzzis and steam and sauna rooms|The bed was very comfy and spacious…however we did not sleep well! At 12.00am, we had a phone call to our room, which rang and rang and rang. My husband eventually picked it up, to be asked about a sandwich we had ordered! We hadn’t! so we were then awake! After managing to drop off, at 2.30am a room a few doors down/opposite was having a very very loud rant! Lets just say the language was very colourful! About 20 mins later the porter knocked on their door to ask if everything was ok. So we did not sleep well at all. We reported this to the receptionist, who said she was aware of all of this. I thought the least she could have done was discounted the tea which we had to order to our room, being as we very much needed it the morning after a bad nights sleep!|The car parking is £12.50 a day, which is also a big sting! This hotel seemed to be trying to cash in wherever possible.|Lovely hotel, but not worth the money for the penthouse| | More...

All staff throughout the hotel were welcoming and efficient. Location was great and only a couple of minutes walk into the village. My only criticisms are we had noisy neighbours upstairs from 1.30-3.30am, which wasn't hotels fault, just unfortunate and the cleaners hoovering outside our room at just gone 8am each morning, but meant we didn't waste our day, so always a positive. Concierge was so helpful & really welcoming as were reception staff. Room was really lovely, hot tub fantastic. Dinner was also excellent. We didn’t use the Spa - were very happy with our own on the balcony.||Can’t fault most of the experience & would recommend it - but with caveats.||Note to hotel to improve to make this balanced ....||1. For a high quality room, the shower was dated. Fortunately we spent more time in the hot tub||2. Breakfast was a buffet. Appreciate why that is done but at £290 for a luxury experience, being served a cooked breakfast would enhance it massively. Even little touches like serving coffee at table perhaps in small jugs rather than having to go back to the buffet to get it yourself. I stay at Premier Inns when working. Even they serve a cooked breakfast at the table made when requested & not lying for an hour. However the fruit & continental options were very good||3. As much as the check-in was impressive & set the stay up, the checkout was the opposite. Almost seemed like ‘we’ve had you visit, we’ve got your money, we’ve got new customers arriving’. Girl on reception sorted out payment but didn’t even have the time or courtesy to ask if we’d enjoyed our stay - even though we were the only two people at the desk. We even emphasised saying ‘thank you’ & still got nothing as she immediately looked away. As we walked across the car park, that was the only thought - it would have taken nothing. I’d even have made the breakfast comment there & possibly not here!||Hope that’s balanced. Would I visit again? Yes probably - but make sure the ‘luxury’ experience is that from walk in to walk out.
