We can't speak highly enough of Shirley and the incredible care she gives our two boisterous Labradors! It's just as if they're part of her family - 100% recommended!

I know Shirley is my best friend, but even after knowing her for 30 years and learning so much about animal behaviour from her, she never ceases to amaze me. Intuitive, emphatic, knowlegable and in tune with all her charges; for some reason she has an instant connection and all the dogs love her. More...

I met Shirley by chance and how blessed Cherri and I have been through that chance meeting! Cherri is very precious to me being only the second dog I've been able to have in England. She is so well taken care of by Shirley when I travel so regularly for work that I have complete peace of mind. I can't recommend her highly enough! More...

Shirley greatly helped socialise Lass, our latest German Shepherd puppy through pack walks and one to one training. Always eager to share her knowledge and relaxed with it, Shirley taught me what I was doing wrong (and it's often the owner not the dog who is the problem) and how to change it. Not pushy or rushed it was a pleasure to walk with her. I think I was more difficult to train than Lass though. And I know of no safer or more friendly environment with which to trust your in-home boarding. Shirley boarded our previous GSD, Bess and it's so much easier on an owners mind to know their dog is being looked after in a caring, dog-centric home environment than a kennels. I can't recommend Shirley's Bucks n Barks highly enough. More...

Copy and pasted from a text sent by Teresa, Maidenhead.Ok here goes...'Our wee Jack Russell Kipper was lucky enough to have had Shirley Sumner to help care for him for 9 years. From dog walking to home boarding, Shirley was always there, totally reliable. I never ever worried about him while on holiday, Kipper was on holiday too, home from home. Kipper was a rescue dog with many issues, but with Shirley's extraordinary understanding of dogs, was able to socialise which helped him become a much loved family pet, something I could not have done without Shirley's assistance. When it comes to dog care Shirley Sumner is the whole package and I would happily recommend her to anyone who values their four legged friend. More...

Hey everyone! I would 100% recommend Charlie to anyone! She is fantastic, not only did she clear my garden which was overrun with lots of dog mess, but she made it actually smell nice again (never thought this would happen)! She is such a lovely warm person also. She won't judge you, she just works hard to get the job done. Will definitely use her again. I'm so glad that I found her! More...

I have used Christine and Scoop Dotty Dog for clearing up my garden of dog mess and my paddocks of horse droppings. Christine makes sure that she picks up every single bit of mess leaving everything spotless. She even sprays a nice smelling spray over where the dog mess was. I totally recommend her and will definatly use her services in the future. X More...

Q&As

As a family we have always, always adored all animals. We've always had our own dogs and cared for others' dogs for over 20 years now.
We love walking and teaching new dogs how to interact and socialise well with others.

The business was started by Shirley as we had a Weimaraner who absolutely hated kennels. We dropped him off one time before a family holiday and upon our return he'd got himself in such a state, claws worn down, coat dusty and lost its' sheen, throat hoarse from all the barking, that we decided to never put him through that again.
She then started Bucks'n'Barks home boarding so that she could help people with their dogs too.

We love dogs. We treat them as part of the family and our clients will all testify to the amount of love and care we give to all our guests.
